We booked 3/4 day with Captain Ron. He was prompt for pickup, greeted us with a smile and had the boat fully stocked with bait and bottled water. Our journey led us on an hour long boat ride to arrive at the first spot. As soon as we dropped lines in the water, fish began biting. It wasn’t long after we landed our first one. Having a 9 year old along for this adventure, catching fish to keep him entertained was pretty important. We moved to another spot and the same thing - Captain Ron knows where the fish are! He was patient and did a great job working with us.

I’ve been on a lot of guided fishing trips over the years and have to say that the trip I and my daughter and her friend just took with Captain Ron is one of the best ever, if not the best.  We had only booked a half day trip, so I was surprised when he suggested the 30-mile run to the mainland near Flamingo City.  Even though the rides there and back shortened our fishing time some, he said we would have much better fishing than if we stayed local to Islamorada, which was what other guides in the area had always done.  He wasn’t kidding.  We enjoyed almost non-stop fishing action.  I was especially happy that we caught a lot of good sized snook (and, of course, were very careful to release healthy and unharmed).  We also caught a lot of other species: trout, jacks, a black drum, and many others). We eventually caught a few lemon sharks, which were fun and also never boated, but released safely.  We only took a couple of trout for dinner that night (delicious), all the rest were released.  Captain Ron fishes out of of the Worldwide Sportsman in Islamorada.  If you book a trip with him, you’ll have a fishing experience that you’ll never forget.

We had an enjoyable day out on the water. We caught several fish and had many hits and caught some keepers. Unfortunately the wind really picked up from the time we left the dock and that kind of hindered us a bit but not much you can do about that, just part of the great outdoors.  Altogether we had a pleasant trip.

Me & my husband fished with Ron. It was my first time & he helped me so much, showing me how to use the pole & cast, etc. And he even baited my hook which I appreciated. I caught fish! Snook, red fish & Jack Creval. He took us to the fish we wanted to catch & we caught quite a few. I look forward to booking with Ron again. Thanks for a great day on the water.

Captain Ron is an outstanding Captain and knows how to find fish.  We had a great time!  I highly reccomend Pirate for Hire and will fish with him again in the future.
