Island Dog Water Sports is one of Ocho Rios’ real success stories. Captain Shalton Whyte operates a fleet of awesome sportfishing boats which head out every day in search of pelagic species like Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, and Tuna. The Reel Deal is one of the best in the fleet, able to carry large groups out to the incredible deep sea fisheries Jamaica is blessed with.
The Reel Deal is a 43’ Tiara cruiser with room aboard for up to 12 guests. Her twin Detroit diesels produce a staggering 1,300HP between them, getting you out to the fishing grounds in no time. Once you’re there, her high-tech Furuno electronics will sweep the deep while her outriggers and downriggers spread your lines, each baited with fresh Ballyhoo - nothing but the best here!
The thing that makes big game fishing so great in Ocho Rios is the fact that the water gets real deep real fast - and doesn’t stop dropping! This means that even on a half day trip, you can battle species you would expect to travel an hour just for a glimpse of. Captain Shalton takes full advantage of this, running four, six, and eight-hour trips so you can enjoy the area’s big game fishing, no matter your schedule.
Half day trips usually focus on trolling for Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, and King Mackerel near the coastline. That’s not all you’ll find, though. Sailfish, Tuna, and even Marlin are known to come very close to shore in Jamaica. Book in for a full day trip, and you can head 20+ miles out to less fished waters where the real bluewater monsters lurk.
All trips come with tackle, bait, lures, and licenses, as well as a selection of drinks to keep you cool and energized. At the end of your trip, your catch will be fairly shared between you and the crew. Whatever you take will be cleaned and filleted for you, ready to enjoy as the perfect end to a great day on the water.
Please be aware that credit card payments incur a 16.5% tax when processing the payment.
