If you’re up for a memorable fishing experience down in the Florida Keys, True Island Adventures is waiting for you with open arms. Join Captain Brett Hagood for a cruise out of Islamorada, and he’ll do his best to make your angling dreams come true. Whether you’re a novice angler or someone who knows their way around, you can count on him to lend a helping hand.

You’ll be fishing on a 24’ Shearwater bay boat that’s just perfect for navigating both the shallow flats as well as waters closer to the Gulf of Mexico. Its 250 HP Yamaha engine will get you to the fishing grounds without wasting any valuable time. When going after fish that are easy to spook, you’ll find that the onboard wireless trolling motor is an invaluable part of the fishing setup.

The Keys give you a lot of freedom when it comes to the fish you want to catch. The inshore waters and flats are great if you’re interested in the likes of Redfish, Seatrout, Snook, Tarpon, Permit, and others. If you decide you want to head a bit further out, you’ll have plenty of fun with Grouper, Snapper, Sharks, Barracuda, and plenty more.

Rods, reels, and terminal tackle are included in the given price of a trip, along with all the fishing licenses you’ll need. Captain Brett will clean and fillet the catch after the trip for your convenience. All that’s left for you to do is pack some drinks or snacks if you’re so inclined, put on a pair of polarized sunglasses, and get ready to make some memories!

    Half day trips are the perfect duration to get a taste of the Islamorada fishing experience! Charters begin anywhere from 7 - 8:00 a.m. Depending on the type of fishing you are interested in and the time of year, you can either travel to the amazing coral reef for some hard-pulling Snapper, Grouper, and Barracuda, or out into Everglades National Park for Seatrout, Snapper, sharks, Mackerel, Jack, and Tarpon. 4 people max.

Capt. Brett moved to Islamorada in 1983 and spent his childhood fishing in the shallow waters of Florida Bay and learning the hidden secrets of the Upper Florida Keys. His father, who has been a backcountry fishing guide for the past 30 years, would allow Brett to disappear for hours in his boat, exploring the local waterways and islands and setting the groundwork for what would eventually become his true passion ā€“ helping others experience this tropical paradise in the best way possible ā€“ from the water. After high school, Capt. Brett became a State Certified Firefighter / EMT and volunteered with Islamorada Fire Rescue for a few years before moving to central Florida to pursue a career as a professional firefighter in Lakeland. 10 years later, he decided that the islands were drawing him home and made the decision to bring his family back to the place where it all began. True Island Adventures isnā€™t just a business for Captain Brett and his family ā€“ itā€™s a lifestyleā€¦.
