My father-in-law and I spent an incredible 3/4 day trip with the Black Moon Team in August of 2020. The timing wasn’t ideal for billfish, but the Dorado & ‘cuda were everywhere.

Julio & Edwin are incredibly knowledgeable, proefessional and hospitable. One of the great things about them and the vessel is that it’s as “hands on” of a real fishing experience as you’d like. It’s not a day spent hiding out in the cabin of a luxury barge waiting for your turn with 10 other people you may or may not know. Rather, it’s a beautiful day out on the water…FISHING and Julio & Edwin make sure there’s plenty of fishing to be done.

Are there swells and waves? Yes, it’s the ocean. Might you get wet? Yes, see above. Will you actually FISH and have a blast doing it? Absolutely.

We can’t wait to head out with the Black Moon Team again.

My wife and two teenage sons enjoyed our 4 hour fishing trip onboard the Black Moon.  Booking was easy and the boat was ready when we arrived at the dock.  We trolled for about 2 hours and caught two fish.  The boys had fun reeling them in.  We bottom fished after that and the fish we really biting.  We caught about 25 in an hour.  While heading in the first mate prepared what we wanted to keep and gave it to us at the dock.  A little while later we were eating the fish in a restaurant in Puerto Morelos with all the trimmings.

After catching bait we went out trolling for about an hour (no luck) but Edwin kept checking & switching rigs. We slow trolled with live bait for a while and caught a nice King Mackerel. Then went bottom bouncing with some cut-bait and caught about a dozen red snapper, porgys, grunts, etc. and another King. We had one on that we couldn’t get off of the bottom and after 30+ minutes it broke the line. The boat and crew were top notch! I’d fish with them again!

Boat was clean crew friendly.They asked me what I wanted to fish for and off and running we went .This is in November so this is their off-season so I didn’t expect much. But we ended up with an amber jack eight . So I was very pleased.
