Trip Summary
A cold front came through earlier in the morning and left us with chilly and windy conditions that made fishing difficult but far from impossible. I had a great father and son duo from New Jersey aboard and they did a fantastic job of staying focused.
We left off of Siesta Key and headed to a couple oyster beds that I thought might offer us some protection from the wind and give us a chance at some decent fish. After a few minutes of working the oysters we found the fish and were rewarded with some nice Black Drum and Sheepshead. After a while the bite slowed down a bit and we ran up the bay a mile or so and hit some structure along a sheltered shoreline catching more Drum and Sheepshead as well as a few large Mangrove Snapper. Finally to finish of the night we hit a deep hole outside of a local Marina where we found some Redfish and more Snapper.
It just goes to show that unfavorable weather doesn't mean the fishing will be bad. It just means that you have to adapt and adjust to meet the conditions.
