Welcome to Capt. Snag Sportfishing charters, launching out of Hatteras, North Carolina. Captain Dale Layne and first mate Derek Wood strive to provide their customers with a successful and pleasurable experience on the water. They both enjoy their job very much and love to share their passion with new and experienced anglers alike.
Captain Dale and his mate take great care of their boat and gear. When they aren’t fishing, they are hard at work cleaning and prepping for the next charter. You’ll get to see the results for yourself when you step aboard their spotless 52’ Buddy Cannady offshore sportfishing boat powered by an 850 HP Caterpillar C15 engine.
The vessel comes with top-notch marine electronics and safety gear, a flybridge, outriggers, a fighting chair, a live bait tank, and an icebox. It also features a full restroom, AC, and even a multimedia system.
The crew understands that customers are looking to have a great time and catch fish, and with that in mind, they know every day is different. Dale will not take anyone out there if he feels like the conditions are too rough. He likes to make sure that his party is safe and has a great time. The Snag has one motto: “We snagg’em, you bagg’em!”
And you’ll be bagging a variety of game species including Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and Billfish. You’ll also get to go bottom fishing for the likes of Tilefish, Gray Triggerfish, Groupers, and Vermilion Snapper. The charter will cover the best professional fishing gear by Penn and Shimano, lures, and fishing licenses. During fall, you might even get a chance to fish for your own bait.
There are no age restrictions but the crew prefers prior notice when bringing younger kids (especially on longer trips). Life jackets for your little ones will be provided and Capt. Snag Sportfishing will make sure their day on the water is educational and unforgettable!
