Mark's Reel Fishing Adventures

If you’re looking to explore the bountiful waters of Ucluelet, Canada, you can’t go wrong with Mark’s Reel Fishing Adventures. In the indigenous language, Ucluelet means “people of the safe harbor,” and safety is one of main priorities for Captain Mark Durante, along with putting his clients on fish and showing them all the natural beauties the area has to offer.

He has over 30 years of fishing experience and will teach you all the do’s and don’ts for landing that fish of your dreams. Mark will also show you the best fishing and scenic spots, answer all the questions you might have about the area and fishing, and tell you his favourite fishing stories. He has a lot of returning customers, but he always likes meeting new people from all over the world, so that’s why he decided to list on FishingBooker in February of 2019.

Mark invites anglers from everywhere to spend the day aboard the “Easy Days,” his 29’ offshore sportfishing boat. It features a full restroom, comfortable seating, and a kitchen with a fridge. The boat also has the latest marine electronics and safety gear.

Powered by twin 300 HP Yamaha main engines, it also has twin 9.9 HP high thrust kickers on either side of the main engines that are used when slow trolling with the bait in the water. The vessel can take up to 6 passengers – 4 adults and 2 kids who are 4 years and older, to be precise. If your party has more than 4 adults, it’s possible to make arrangements if you contact the captain before the trip.

He always tries to meet his clients’ demands, so he asks them what they want to do and gives recommendations based on that. Depending on your preferences, you’ll get to focus on Salmon, Halibut, Lingcod, and Rockfish. You’ll be going up to 25–30 miles offshore, trolling with 2 lines in the water or spinning with spoons for Coho.

Mark’s Reel Fishing Adventures will provide all the fishing gear and bait. You should bring layered clothing, rain gear, lunch and drinks, and a camera.

On this full-day trip, the captain can take you up to 25–30 miles offshore in pursuit of Salmon, Halibut, Lingcod, and Rockfish. Make sure to bring a camera since the captain knows an amazing scenic spot where he brings the clients on their way back to the harbor so they can take great photos. You're also free to bring your own coolers.

This 6-hour morning trip will see you fishing for Lingcod, Salmon, Halibut, and Rockfish. The captain cleans the fish after all the photos are taken on his special scenic spot. He then ices and bags your catch. There’s also a fish processing plant about a mile from the marina – the captain often sends his clients there if they want to vacuum and flash freeze their fish for longer trips. They know the captain at the plant, so they always know what to do when his clients show up there.

On this afternoon 6-hour trip, you'll get to fish for Lingcod, Salmon, Halibut, and Rockfish. All the catch will be cleaned and bagged for you to take home. There's even an option of flash freezing your catch at a nearby processing plant. It's recommended that you phone the captain the night before your trip.

Four hours in the afternoon will give you a chance to target Salmon, Lingcod, Halibut, and Rockfish. Fishing licenses are mandatory; if you're not a Canadian citizen, you need to go to a vendor in Canada and get your Halibut license, but there’s a place across the marina where you can buy them. You'll also need a Chinook tag if you wanna go after them.

Captain Mark Durante has been charter fishing for 30+ years. He was born and raised on Vancouver Island, and his father was a fisherman. Mark remembers fishing as a little kid and catching his first fish, an 18 pound Coho. That’s when he fell in love with it and used every opportunity to go fishing ever since. He spent most of his career as a captain in the southeast part of the island, and then moved back here to take care of his mother and be closer to his family. His favorite part of the job is watching people catch the fish and seeing the smiles on their faces. He loves working with beginners because of how they get excited. The captain is all about the safety and makes sure he teaches everyone how to not get into each other's way on the boat. He also teaches his clients everything they need to know to reel in their first fish.
