First City Fishing Charters offers shallow water, tactical fishing trips out of St. Augustine, FL. Get ready to stalk the backcountry flats and inlets in some of the most pristine waters of the Sunshine State. You’ll have a fourth generation fisherman and expert guide by your side to share his knowledge and fishfinding expertise along the way.
Captain Zach Timmons will put you on the fish of your dreams faster than you can say “fish on!” His confidence and acumen for fish species and aquatic habitats will help lead you to some of the best fishing grounds in the area. You’ll target Redfish, Black Drum, Tarpon, Flounder, and Spotted Seatrout. On full day trips, you can even venture out further into nearshore waters to catch Sheepshead.
Capt. Zach is an expert in many different techniques, including spinning and fly fishing. He provides fly gear for those willing to give this ancient tradition a try. It’s a challenge, but definitely worth a shot. He prefers using light tackle for a fair fight, unless he’s battling the “Silver King,” in which case he’ll take out the heavy tackle, as Tarpon are known as one of the best fighters in the game.
You’ll be fishing from a 17’ Mitzi flats, outfitted with top-of-the-line navigational electronics, an icebox, a live bait tank, and safety equipment. She can take up to 3 guests per trip, and each person will be provided with state-of-the-art rods and reels, as well as bait and lures.
Your fishing license is also covered, and if you’d like to keep the fish you caught, Capt. Zach will offer to clean and fillet your catch for you. However, he prefers to release the fish back into the wild in order to preserve the local ecosystem.
