Our fishing charter consisted of my husband, our daughter, and myself who once again embarked on another 3 hour afternoon fishing trip (a repeat trip) with Captain Bobby for a fun fulfilled fishing adventure while staying in Treasure Island.  We always book our fishing charters with Captain Bobby as he is just so cool to fish with, so laid back, and always comes prepared and willing to try new areas around the St. Petersburg bay when weather is not always cooperating. This trip was a bit windy from the last but Captain Bobby took us to 4 different spots this time around and each one had some good biting action. We all got several good bites that got away in some cases but we were still able to snag quite a few Snook, a smaller Redfish, and even a catfish (who love to steal your bait); all of the ones we caught were just a bit too small so we threw them back. We didn’t get quite as lucky this time around for any keepers but nothing is guaranteed when fishing even when the conditions are great! I have found it’s not always about the fish catching that matters so much but really the fun you put into every chartered trip given there is always something to learn about fishing and casting your lines, and Captain Bobby always delivers on ensuring you have a fun with it!  We loved that Bobby took us to areas where we could fish calmer waters around the Mangroves and remote islands to help us practice our casting while seeing some of the areas of the bay we had not got to cast our lines in before.  It was a great time, weather was so warm again, and in all we had another great experience getting to fish while visiting Treasure Island and the St. Petersburg area.  We will definitely charter another fishing trip with Captain Bobby again when we return!

A day my family will never forget. Seriously y’all, Captain Bobby was all that I and my family could’ve hoped for.  Captain Bobby was so, so good and so patient and so kind to us, especially our three boys who went bananas with the first few fish we caught (sorry again, Cpt Bobby!!…hahaaa). He also let our youngest drive the boat as often as possible.  He had all the gear and bait and tackle we needed, and had everything teed him so we could all get lines in the water as soon as we anchored.

Don’t overthink nor search for any other charter - book Captain Bobby!! 5*’s.

For our charter, we did the 3 hour shorter tour as we were not sure how long our 10 year old would last on a boat. It was my myself, my daughter, and my husband’s first chartered fishing trip in the Tampa/St Petersburg area. We are so glad we booked with Captain Bobby given he made the experience so wonderful, helpful, and accommodating.  He took us to several areas where the fish were pretty active and each time we had quite a lot of bites even within the first 5 minutes we cast a line!  We successfully caught 4-7 Spanish mackerel but kept 4 and threw some back: we also were lucky enough to catch 2 medium size speckled trout (1 we had to throw back due to its size), and our daughter who really seemed to have the most luck out of all of us also catching a decent size Snook (the Snook of course is protected and we threw him back but he was a beautiful fish to see up close).  We also caught a few Jackfish (1 was really big, see photo) and happily threw them back given they are not known to be tasty. 

Overall, we all had a great time learning how to cast reels and reel in the fish with strength and precision, even with the bigger fish who would often fight pretty hard, and Bobby was always there to help us out!  He was super helpful in casting long distances for myself and our daughter who couldn’t quite cast out very far; he added bait to our lines, and pulled out tangled lines when needed when the current would drift lines together.  Bobby comes well prepared and has a lot of knowledge on where to go in and around the bays so the time is filled with lots of fun fishing activity making it more exciting!  At the end of the trip, Bobby fillets all your fish so perfectly and gives them to you in a zip block ready to go just like you went to a fresh fish market (bring a cold storage bag, especially if you catch quite a bit like we did as they will stay fresher when it’s hot outside).  All in all, the chartered trip with Bobby was really fun and there was never a dull moment for sure and we luckily had a great seafood dinner at our hotel with the freshest Trout we caught that afternoon.  It definitely was one of most memories experiences we had visiting Tampa Bay and Bobby was the perfect host, especially when you bring a 10 year old who had never fished from a boat before.  Next time we are in Tampa, we will definitely book a fishing charter with Bobby again given he really knows how to make your fishing experience fun and enjoyable!

I booked a trip with Capt. Bobby to take my son out for a half day trip for his birthday.  It was a perfect day to be out on the water and Capt. Bobby was really great.  He really worked hard to try and get us on the fish so we could catch some keepers.  We managed to catch a few Lady Fish and a nice sized Blue fish.  Unfortunately (and no fault of the captain) the fish weren’t biting great, not because he didn’t put us right on top of them.  We could see them from the boat, they just weren’t biting.  But we still had a great time, saw a few dolphins in the bay, and Capt. Bobby offered to take us out for an hour or so the next day for free since he wasn’t happy with how many fish we caught.  He didn’t have to do that, but you can tell he just wants his clients to have a great trip.  I’ll definitely book again the next time we are in St. Pete!

We had a great experience on our half day trip. It was the perfect amount of time for our young family. Captain Bobby was exactly what we were looking for. Laid back, knowledgeable, friendly and great with the kids. He provided us with some great fishing opportunities and let the kids participate. We even got to see a manatee and a pod of dolphins. We will definitely use Gulf Coast Fishing Charters if we are in the area again.
