My husband loves fishing, and I love the sun and the ocean. The crew made me feel a part of the whole experience even though fishing isn’t my expertise. Kevin and Derrick explained what they were doing and why. My husband had a great time, and we were so lucky to catch soooo many Mahi-Mahi and an Ono. We had a great experience, they made sure we were comfortable with the boat before departure. We have been on multiple charters in different areas, and my husband was glad they let him take charge when appropriate, unlike other charters where they take over the experience and don’t let us be involved. They were continuously cleaning the boat and made sure we were comfortable. Kevin was very easy to contact and answered all of our questions so we felt comfortable. The crew even gave us pointers on the area and great places they frequent. I can’t wait to come back, I will definitely be booking with To The Max again!

We had a fun day on the boat with Captain Kevin.  The winds were pretty high, so he stayed closer to the island to avoid the larger surf.  We had one in our party experience some sea sickness due to the rough seas, but he ended up pulling through and caught a fish.  We had a slower day of fishing, but did as well as the other boats who were out.  We really enjoyed our time, and would definitely go again with Kevin and To The Max Charters, just with calmer seas next time.

Great day out with Kevin and Derek, on to the Max charters. Great communications all week from with Kevin, he couldn’t have been more helpful. Headed out nice and early, on a well laid out 30 foot Bertram, with excellent Shimano Tiagra reels, into a fresh breeze and a solid swell, made easier with the beanbag seats.
Derek the deckie was everywhere, putting out rigs, checking the spread constantly.
Shortly after dawn, and bang we are on, great fight, and after about 30 minutes there’s a 100 pound yellowfin lying on the deck. As soon as the fish is on the deck, Kevin is back in the skippers chair looking for the next hookup, and Derek is resetting the spread. Sure enough roughly every hour and a half for the rest of the day and we are on and landing Bigger and bigger yellowfin Tuna on the deck, With 130 pound being the biggest.
Kevin then steered us into a ledge closer to shore to try and land some Wahoo or Mahi Mahi, Before heading Back to Haleiwa.
Once back at the dock, the guys quickly looked to set up some photos of the Catch.
I have been on maybe 10-15 fishing charters, all over the world, including one Previous one to the north shore of Oahu, and without a doubt this was the best fishing charter I have been on.

Captain Mike and crew were amazing! We saw some whales spouts, chased birds, enjoyed beautiful weather and would of caught a great fish if a shark hadn’t stolen it and cut the line. 10/10 would recommend! Bring higher sunscreen than spf 50 though.

Thanksgiving 2020.. Everything about this trip was great. We caught a Mahi-Mahi and a Galapagos Shark, which we released. Good equipment and ability to locate fish and use the right techniques. Kevin and Derrick are both very nice and it was a pleasure to go fishing with them! We will definitely go out with them on our next trip to Oahu!
