Tampa Bay Cobia

Trip Summary

Another hot day on Tampa Bay with the mid-morning temp. climbing into the 80's and lots of boats already out, I decided to take my place at my favorite Cobia spot. There are several ways to find cobia. One is to look around all the nav. markers in the bay and toss a pinfish at them hoping a cobia is hiding there. Another is to spot them cruising the surface like a shark. My way is to look for giant stingrays or manatees. Why? Cobia sometimes like to follow these animals in hopes they will stir up food from the bottom and WHAM!
