Explore the beautiful waters of Florida in and around the stunning Amelia Island with Fernandina Fishing Charters, a Veteran-owned and operated business. Captain Bart Smith is a registered Coast Guard captain and has been saltwater fishing for over 30 years. He’s had some great success in the area, and he’ll get you out on the water for an eventful and memorable, hassle-free fishing experience.

You’ll join Capt. Bart on his 21’ Angler center console boat, powered by 150 HP Mercury engine. With GPS, a fishfinder, and VHF radio, you’ll have all the electronics you need to have a productive fishing day. The boat can accommodate up to 4 anglers, making it the perfect vessel for an outing with a few friends or your family.

These waters are known as very prolific and the abundance of wildlife in the area is amazing. You’ll be cruising the waters in comfort going after some of the most prized Florida fish species like Black Drum, Flounder, Ladyfish, Redfish, Seabass, various species of Shark, Sheepshead, and Spotted Seatrout.

You’ll find everything you need on board – rods, reels, and tackle, as well as live bait and a range of artificial lures. Capt. Bart will be happy to clean and fillet your catch for you so you can take it straight to the table upon your return. Feel free to bring the kids, as they are welcome on board, and this is the perfect opportunity to make some new family memories.

    Spend a day on the water, you can fish all day, break it up with a picnic and swim on Cumberland Island. Take a tube for some fun. Tour the area from Amelia Island Histotic St Marys, stop and get lunch. This trip is for 8 hours. We would leave in the morning around 9am and return around 4-5 pm. This is a private trip which includes a USCG certified Captain, fuel and boat. Fishing gear, cooler, ice and a case of water. Trip can take up to 6 people but would not included fishing. Fishing is for 4 people.

    This is quite the day, leaving early and heading out to the jetties we will look for calm water and fish for large Bull Reds. Then move inshore depending on tides and bites work shorelines and oyster beds. Lunch is always recommended to be brought and lots of beverages Ice and bottled water is always available and provided. This trip is priced for up to 4 people.

    Depending on what kind of adventure you are looking for we will leave the dock around 8–9 a.m. You will get a brief description of the boat with all its safety features. Often we will discuss where the best bite has been and be using jigs and slip floats along the various marshes and creeks. If any legal fish are caught that you would like to keep we can bring them back and I will filet, bag, and ice them for you to take home. Often we are back to the dock between 12 and 1 p.m.

    This is the evening afternoon trip that can be very rewarding. We normally will leave the dock at 2 p.m. and return just after 6 p.m. This is always a great opportunity for some great late afternoon action at the jetties with weather permitting and calm seas.

    This trip is geared to families with young children and couples who want to get out on the water for a shorter 3 hour trip. Cooler evening trip with sunset views. This fishing tour heads out around 530pm. Take a ride up to the Bells River and stop along some fishing spots cruies though Jolly River and head mover to Cumberland Island to see the wild horses. Then over to Fort Clinch, depending on time, weather and tides we can finish up at the picturesque Tiger Island and fish while watching the Sun set.

I have always had a love of the water since I can remember. Seafaring captains run in my family – my father, great grandfather, and great-great-grandfather were all sea captains of various sailing ships. I started out in 8' dings and small sailing prams around my home town of Interlaken New Jersey. Shortly after graduating high school I joined and served 5 years in the US Coast Guard. Fishing has always been a passion from light tackle for Largemouth Bass and Carp to surf fishing for Striped Bass and Bluefish off the beach and jetties of the Jersey Shore. Five years ago I decided to put my passion into a career and got my Captain's license and started guiding part-time around the beautiful Amelia Island.
