I booked a full day of fishing during my trip to Cabo San Lucas, upon arriving at the marina Captain Johnny showed me where to get my fishing license and introduced me to Cesar who would be my guide for the day. Captain Cesar did an excellent job! He asked me what I wanted to fish for before setting off from the dock, and when I replied Mahi-mahi he immediately said we’d have a good day. Boy was he right, we hooked up on a few nice mahi-mahi and shared laughs and a sandwich over the course of the day. The second mahi-mahi that I caught was, in his words not mine, “mucho gordo grande”! 10/10 trip. Plus I got to keep the catch and have it cooked at a local restaurant right next to the dock!

I booked a private charter my son and I.  A father son experience.  Leaving the dock it was an incredible sunrise as you can see in the video. 

Then when we started driving out, due to storms a few hundered miles south, the swells in the ocean were big, not height but constantly rough.  We powered through and went after Marlin.  We went through visited a couple spots.  About 2 hours in.  FISH ON!  The battle was on, and as a good dad I deferred to my son to battle the fish.  During the 30-40 min battle, the fished jumped out of the water and it was incredible.  It was not a Marlin.  It was a rare, blue sparkly spotted Sailfish.  Wow.  I knew these were rare and if you get lucky, you get a Marlin but we hooked a Sailfish.  The battle was intense, and when it was jumping out of the water wow!  It was out of a dream.

This fish was magical and we decided to keep it and make a trophy.  It was 90 inches and 101 pounds.

I want to say Alfonso (Captain) and Edgar (First Mate) were incredible.  A fun group.  My son and I had a great time. 

I recommend booking them for sure!  We did have to reschedule one day later due to the weather being bad the day before, they were easy with that.

Started off with a photo op past El Arco. Loaded up on some guaranteed fish for dinner by trolling some jigs for some bonito. Which didn’t take long, a few passes along the Pacific side of the Arch rock and we moved on. We wanted to hunt some roosterfish or larger inshore species and he obliged. We switched rigs to live bait and started fly lining some small mackerel. Within 15 minutes we were getting nailed by Giant Trevally in the 25lb class. Missed some fish landed some others, overall a fun trip. We would go out again for sure. By 2 hours in, my cousin and I had each landed 25+ lb (10-12kilo) GT. Great fighters! No chasing marlin or larger pelagics but we knew that going in and wanted a short trip. For a first trip for my cousin he is hooked! Book it and enjoy! FYI, couldn’t load images but will in the future if I can

Trip started at 6am, by 6:30 we were hooked with Mahi mahi, around 7:30am spotted marlin, by 7:35am we were hooked on a marlin! The fight took about 45 minutes, the crew was on it, they had the boat following this fish, landed the fish onto the boat with no hassle, 10 minutes later, another marlin !!!!!! This one took about 25 minutes to reel up, once again crew was ON it, no tangles, no issues. Decided to come in a little early, got our Mahi mahi sashimi and cooked right at marina, THE best meal we had ! Worth it !!!  Definitely going out with Caesar again

We left the marina at 6 AM. Heading for El Faro… The water was a little choppy and I was not used to it but I calmed down and we caught two beautiful rooster fish.. the wind picked up after a couple hours and got more choppy and I requested that we head in and I was fine with that. My stomach wasn’t feeling so good… But overall it was a great experience and I would recommend Blue Sea fishing and Cesar for a great fishing trip… Next time I will go on the bigger boat as the panga was a little too small for the big waves, but all in all a great time!
