My girlfriend and I traveled from Florida to Panama with the hopes of catching Peacock Bass on artificial lures in Central America! I’m an avid freshwater fisherman targeting Large Mouth Bass, Small Mouth Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike, and all trout species. Now that I’m retired, I have been working summers as a Boat Captain and fishing guide in Minnesota and I will be working this summer in Yellowstone National Park. Captain G of Guatan Sport Fishing is AWESOME! He showed me the proper way to fish Topwater lures for Peacock’s, identifying Peacock Bass habitat, and the predator nature of the fish! We all caught FISH! We caught really big fish (males and females) along with numerous smaller Peacocks. Additionally, we caught Tilapia and Oscar’s!! A true trifecta!! Captain G provided lunch, snacks, water, and a couple of celebratory Panamanian Cerveza’s! Once the noon time sun was high in the sky and we were nearing the end of our 6 hour trip, Captain G didn’t rush back to the marina. We went on a tour through the canal to Monkey Island! Captain G had a bag of peanuts, landed the boat and we had the amazing opportunity to feed the monkeys! They actually came up to the boat and gently took the peanuts from our hands! Captain G provided the Perfect Fishing Experience! The equipment was in excellent working condition. His boating skills are superb! We returned to the marina with big smiles and grins! Thank you Captain G for providing this old fisherman with the fishing trip of a lifetime! My girlfriend and I will be back to fish again!!

Captain Gerardo was able to put us on a great variety of fish during our trip.  We started the day with Tarpon and Ladyfish and continued to catch continuously throughout the day including Snook, Oscar, and a large number of beautiful Peacock Bass.  Captain Gerardo is a very knowledgeable and personable guide. He is a great instructor on the various methods used throughout the day to catch fish and was as excited as we were with our success.  His boat is very well equipped with modern gear as well as great food and refreshments.  We will be sure to reach out to him again when we return to Panama for a future trip.  We highly recommend him for your fishing adventure!

Gerardo is the perfect Guide - he put us on fish early and kept us on fish the entire day.  He was always ready to help land the fish, provide advice, and was ready with lure and bait changes to meet the conditions.  Local knowledge and skill is always important, but the Captain’s attitude is just as important for a successful trip.  Gerardo has all three and his passion for the water clearly shows. Spending time with him was the highlight of our trip.  Highly recommended - I’ve fished with dozens of Guides but fishing with Gerardo was like fishing with family.

40 years ago, I was stationed in the Canal Zone.
My brother and I finally got the chance to returned to the Canal / Lake Gatun.
Our guide Garaldo knew all the best fishing spots on the Lake.
The first day out, we caught two Corvina weighing about 10lbs each along with many other fish. The second day out, we caught many Snook. The largest one weighed in at 16lbs. I’ve eaten many different fish in my life, and I have to tell you, the Snook was the best tasting!
Garaldo took very good care of us. We were fed breakfast, lunch and had all the cold drinks available.

Captain Gerard was great! We had so much on our fishing trip. Pretty strong winds so he took us to the sheltered part of the lake where there were plenty of peacock bass. We had a couple of non-fisherman and he made sure everyone was catching fish. He provided a great lunch and plenty of drinks with good variety. We took some time on the way back to see Monkey Island. He is obviously a good fisherman and would be great for both families and serious fisherman. He even arranged to pick us up at the hotel. A great day for us! Excellent experience.
