Many thanks to Alfredo of Rubio’s Sportfishing and Guide/Skipper Don Martín for a great outing. Statred out seemingly slow for a few hours and there was a lot of wind chop to deal with. But Martín knew to change tactics by going deeper with our live sardine trolling sets. We hooked up a 15 or more kilo Yellowtail by 9:30, and after a long, cautious fight we boated and gaffed the brute. 20 minutes after my forearms were rested enough, bam, an even bigger and fatter brute hit and fought even harder. We called it a day given winds increasing constantly. Once at the dock, Alfredo arranged to clean, fileted and vacuum packed 3 filets, since l gave one to Don Martín along with his generous tip. Alfredo delivered the nicely packaged meat to my lodging. I recommend Rubio anytime. Thanks Alfredo and Martín!

We went out for a half day and came back before noon with all the fish we needed. Captain Roy was very knowledgeable and knew exactly where the fish were, and the technical specifics in doing so. After fishing, they helped vacuum seal all your fillets and held them in a freezer until we had to depart. When we wanted only a few pieces for dinner from time to time, Alfredo even went out of his way to deliver some fresh pieces to us.  It was very easy to contact them, and they were always on time. Fantastic services.

Rubio Sportfishing
We booked an all-inclusive day with Rubio’s sport fishing November 24, 2023. I communicated with Alfredo Rubio via email on the Fish Booker website and he replied anywhere from an hour to a day later but he always responded.
After parking and walking a short distance to the marina Capt. Alfredo Rubio greeted us as we walked into the marina. Asking if I was Harry he was congenial and accommodating. He led us to the boat and introduced us to our captain, Paco. There were three of us including my son-in-law Mike and his son Liam.
Paco got us bait from a vendor just outside the harbor (mackerel) and drove north along the coast for an hour or more. Once he and Liam began conversing in Spanish we saw that Paco was very amiable and enjoyed a good laugh or two. After showing us the drill Paco pretty much left us on our own unless he saw that we needed help with something and then he was right there. We fished the bottom in 100-150 feet of water and found willing yellowtail. Everything worked and the trip went as advertised. We liked the Avet rod and reel setups. Paco handled the boat well keeping the ride smooth with a minimum of bouncing.
At the dock Alfredo informed us on what to expect regarding fish cleaning. Packages would be quart size, he would fillet the entire catch, freeze it and either bring it all to the airport the next day so we could take what we wanted and leave the rest with him or we could come by his place and pick up what we wanted the next day on our way to the airport. He gave us his contact information so arrangements could be made to meet up using our cell phone. At the airport communication didn’t work out as planned and we were preparing to leave and go inside and check-in but eventually we got our fish. It was processed well enough and in the end we were pleased and so glad to have this extra above and beyond service extended to us.
I recommend Alfred Rubio and Rubio Sportfishing all inclusive trips to anyone who wants a good experience as well as a good value.

My wife and I came down to Loreto for a fun time fishing and we were lucky enough to find Rubio’s sport fishing on the Alicia 3 superpanga! Ray Rubio is an excellent captain who got us on many nice dorado and skipjack. Top notch service, Ray is an extremely knowledgeable captain with a great understanding of the Loreto fishing scene, and his nephew Ernesto, who help us with booking the trip, was very helpful and informative. If you have experience with pangas and fishing guides, you’ll find Rubios a delight. This is the guide that will make a great trip. Highly recommended!

First time in Loreto and loving it!
Booked an all inclusive day trip with Rubio sport fishing and had a really great time.
Communication is awesome and timing was perfect.
The gear is top of the line and the boat is very clean and well maintained.
Perfect day, temperature and water conditions.
Alfredo took us to the far side of Isle de Carmen and got the first line in the water quickly.
Trolling 40’ deep in 150’ of water we hooked up in 10 minutes but didn’t get it to the boat.
A second top line was set and the entire day we had fish hitting on both lines.
We ended up landing four Yellow tails that gave amazing fight.
Alfredo was awesome. He worked so hard and made the trip the greatest trip.
