Halibut Beach Fishing
Come to Ninilchik, Alaska and join McKenzy Sage Haber in fishing the shore on the east side of the Cook Inlet! With the ocean’s second-biggest tides, tucked between the volcanic peaks that partly comprise the “Ring of Fire” and 100+ feet bluffs filled with coal and gold, the Cook Inlet is home to the world’s best Halibut fishing!
Beginning at Three Bears Alaska 2.5 hours before high tide, the captain will check if you have your ADFG fishing license. Thanks to private road access through special permission, you’ll then follow him down a private mining road that leads to old Alaskan Homesteads.
Once set up, you’ll fish 2 hours before and 2 hours after the high tide, giving you 5 hours to fish. You’ll be casting 50-120 yards into the surf, teasing Halibut as it feeds around the high tide as baitfish and other food get washed up onto the beaches. Contrary to the belief that this is a deep water fish, it’s found in the spring, summer, and fall in shallow water fattening to spawn in the winter.
The captain also offers a Lands End Beach trip at the end of the Road Park at the tip of the Homer Spit in Homer, Alaska. This is an action-packed trip filled with tons of catching that is the perfect activity for large groups, families, kids, and people with all experience levels!
See what you can catch using Alaskan, Hawai’ian, Australian, and the charter’s own techniques to target Halibut, Salmon, Skate, Flounder, Dolly Varden, and Cod. You can keep the fish you catch and you’re welcome to bring kids on your trip.
You’ll get a taste of the history, biology, and geology of the Cook Inlet as you fish. Once you’re done fishing, you’ll follow the captain back to Three Bears Alaska and decide if you want your catch processed or cooked for you at a local restaurant.
The captain supplies all the fishing tackle, dead bait, and lures. The only things you should bring are your licenses, food, and drinks.
McKenzy Sage Haber is eager to take you on a true fishing adventure in Alaska!
