Trip Summary

MICK’S SEARCH FOR A MARLIN! We had the pleasure of Mick from Derbyshire in England join us aboard GOOD DAY yesterday for some fishing in Costa Rica. Many of you will completely relate with Mick. Over the years he has travelled long distances & at great expense with the hope of one day maybe catching a Marlin. His travels have taken him to renowned Marlin destinations such as Kenya (more than once!) and Madeira but with no Marlin to show for his efforts he travelled to Costa Rica with the hope that his fortune might change this time. We have been catching plenty of Sailfish but in general it has been a slow couple of weeks on the Marlin front, however, having never caught a Billfish, a Sailfish would be one step closer to his goal for Marlin. We fished hard, we covered lots of ground, trolled lures, ballyhoo’s, teasers, dredges & spent some time fishing live Bonitos but apart from 1 quick enquiry from a Sailfish we had not caught a fish after 6 hours. In an effort to save the day we agreed to spend the final hour of the day bottom Fishing an Offshore Reef where we caught 5 nice sized Snowy Groupers, plus some Tilefish, Split Tail Bass, Devil Fish & a Lizard Fish. Not what we set out for but certainly nice to see a bend in the rods after a slow day. Hopefully Mick will find his Marlin one day, hopefully it will be with us on a future visit, but one thing is for sure, he is going to enjoy & appreciate that moment if it does happen!
