Tofino Saltwater Sports
Fish the unspoiled waters of Tofino with a crew that prides itself on being made up of true locals. Captain Carmen and her crew were born and raised fishing these waters and provide a local experience and flair that you cannot find elsewhere. Currently, Captain Matt Dawson is running all the trips. Fishing runs thick in their blood and they want to show you what it is that makes the area’s fishery so special.
You will be fishing aboard a very seaworthy and well regarded Boston Whaler boat that has been totally fitted out to provide charter guests with the best possible offshore fishing experience. With a Lowrance GPS system and Navionics secondary GPS, the boat is finely tuned to get you to the fish. It also features Scottie Downriggers, widely regarded as the best Salmon fishing gear on the market, and carries Islander mr2 reels with Shimano rods for Salmon, and Ugly Stick rods for Halibut and Ling Cod.
Your fishing trip will begin by setting crab traps in sheltered waters near the shore, and then heading out to whichever destination is most appropriate for the conditions and time of year. In good weather you could be fishing Long Beach for Salmon and Halibut, or you could travel further out for Raffel to fish for Lingcod, Salmon, and Halibut. However, there are also great fishing spots closer to home, with Wilf Rock being an excellent destination to fish for Coho and Chinook Salmon, and Burgess, Blunden and Clifford all great nearshore Salmon fishing grounds that are particularly suitable for those who want to steer clear of the choppier waters offshore. Once you’ve finished fishing, you will return to the dock via the crab traps to round off the perfect trip.
All the fishing gear you will need for your trip is included in the price. Fishing licenses can be bought from the captain at a cost of 60 CAD for internationals and 17 CAD for Canadian citizens (subject to change).
