Trip Summary

The day started with a bang. Our water way of choice on this day was the wando river. As for our tackle we were using st. Croix rods, 7ft medium fast action. These are my personal favorite as they work very well at casting out popping cork rigs, tagged with live shrimp. As for line I prefer power pro 25 pound braid tied to the beaded end of the cork, then 25 pound extra tuff mono from the cork to the hook, which I like the number two owner round, not circle hook. The first spot we started at we had over thirty hook ups with none stop doubles on spotted Sea trout. After burning up a nice chunk of our live shrimp I decided to leave the fish to hit a dock that had been doing very well. After arriving to the dock it took less than two mins and my client had drag ripping from his rod. We then landed another huge amount of fish. Over 35 to be exact with multiple double hook ups on huge trout and reds with a couple smaller black drum. It was my clients first time salt water fishing and I guarantee it will not be his last. Nothing is quite as refreshing as seeing grown men act like kids all over again with excitement, while ripping the rod back while drag is being pulled out.
