By far the funnest fishing trip we have done to date in Mexico! Captain Jose was amazing. Not only is he very fun and a great time, he’s also an excellent teacher. He has been fishing all his life and you can tell it is his absolute passion. He gave us a lot of really good tips. We started off with spinning rods and caught several fish right off the bat. We caught Barracuda, Jack, Snook, and a couple others. We switched to fly rods and had a large fish bite, but we didn’t successfully pull it in. All in all we caught around 20 fish, laughed all day and shared stories. To top it off, Jose is just a stand up human. He saw some trash floating in the lagoon and went out of his way to get it to “keep his favorite place beautiful”. We definitely will be back. Thank you so much for an amazing day!

Wonderful time, arrived a bit early, was offered drinks while we waited for our scheduled time. Due to wind, drifted through fishing spots, caught 4 fish, had one Tarpon on that gave my wife a great fight, then did what they do and spit the hook during a out of water dance which was awesome to see, had another Tarpon blow up the water and hammer my bait, but didn’t stay hooked. had many more opportunities and bites than we caught, Our guide was great, pointing out fish and areas to cast, always helpful and very informative.  Will be coming back for another trip next time in Cancun. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Thank you so much to Martin and Noel. I have paid a lot more for similar fishing trips and gotten a whole lot less. Both really went above and beyond. My wife got really sick with a stomach bug the night before the trip and we had to reschedule for the following day. The communication was excellent back and forth with Martin. Unfortunately the only day we were able to reschedule to had a 90% chance of rain and it certainly rained 90% of the time we were out there but Noel worked hard to make us successful. We were not dressed well for the rain given the fact we are on a tropical vacation and the first thing Noel did was hand us some very nice water proof fishing jackets. They made a world of difference to us on the trip. We would not have been able to stick out the 6 hours without them. We eneded up with one very nice tarpon and one lady fish. The gear was in great condition as well as the boat. Martin’s wife had packed us some nice sandwiches, chips and drinks. I wish we had caught more fish of course but how can I complain after landing a tarpon like that? I have no doubt that if the weather had been better we would have. Like I said, Noel set us up for the best chances to catch fish.

Everything started out so impressively with Cancun Light Tackle & Fly Fishing! At the very last minute I decided I wanted to go out a day early in the afternoon instead of the next morning, and Martin answered within minutes and had everything changed over and set up for me to go out.

As a single middle-aged woman (hurts to say that) who absolutely loves fishing, I wondered if I would feel awkward or if the captain would feel awkward since I was going out by myself. Again—-I didn’t have anything to worry about! Captain Jose put me completely at ease—he was personable and fun—-perfect balance of chatting but focused on the fishing. He made the trip so much fun—what a great guide!

The fish were slow, but Jose was on his game! If we didn’t get a bite within a few short minutes, he would say, “Come on, let’s move—-I know another spot”—-this happened until I got my prized catch of the day—a snook! It was probably a 10 pound snook. Caught a red and amberjack, too. But the snook made the trip worth it! Jose was knowledgeable and determined to put me on the fish—-and he also taught me some tips that I didn’t know.

If you’re looking for a service with a great captain and great ownership/service, then I highly recommend you book with these guys asap! My little 1/2 day trip was the highlight of my Cancun/Riviera Maya vacation! Thanks, Jose & Martin!

We signed up for a 6 hour spin casting trip. We took a short taxi ride from the Hyatt Zilara and met the owner, Martin. His attitude was perfect. Friendly, professional and engaging. Remember bring cash like it says in the email.Our guide was perfect for my wife and I. Maw has been guiding for over 27 years. He knew we wanted an enjoyable day on the water with the opportunity to catch fish. We spent the first 2 hours targeting Tarpon, We saw several but landed none. We the moved around the lagoon for the next 4 hours. Each spot produced at least 1 fish. At the end of the day we got to fish in mangroves and got big snook. The perfect way to end a perfect day. Maw had drinks sandwiches and chips for us but to be honest we were have such a good time we did not want to stop to eat.
    The equipment was brand new, the boat was spotless and Maw made sure we were fishing all the time. Constant attention to our needs all day. If you like to fish and understand fishing does not mean always catching you will love this great guide service.
