This popular beach town separates the mountains from the ocean, meaning there’s stunning scenery wherever you look. Your first port of call – after the actual port, of course – will be the inshore bays. The town actually sticks out onto a peninsula, splitting two bays, where you’ll find a whole host of exotic and exciting fish. The deep sea fun can still be patchy in February. When it’s good, it’s really good. When it’s not, you can chase monster Roosterfish and Snook in the shallows instead.

Jack Crevalle, Snook, Roosterfish, and Sierra Mackerel are all on form this time of year. The reefs are always productive and the offshore bite gets more reliable as the winds start to die down.

Abril

April is the hottest month of the year in Costa Rica. It’s also the last of the dry season, so make the most of the sunny skies and hit the water for a deep sea or inshore sight fishing trip.

Mayo

Take Dramamine before you hit the boat even if you have no history of seasickness. All of our group were queasy at best, including myself, and I have been on boats throughout my entire life. Bring a dry bag for your towels and anything else you don’t want wet. Everything got soaked, including us.

pay a little more if you want more variety and gamers. we went for Dorado (mahi mahi) and tuna. we hit Dorado during our trip and were happy because all 6 of us caught fish! it's one of the only charters I could find in this price range for 5 hours. most others were 4 hours for the same price. crew made it effortless. highly recommend! Also saw a lot of Dolphins and Leatherback Sea Turtles as an added bonus!

The boat and gear was excellent. The crew was on their game, helping efficiently all the time. The bait was good, the lures were appropriate, and the spread behind the boat was perfect. We were able to catch. A big wahoo and a very big sail fish (released the sailfish), in tough windy conditions. It was a great day.

Captain (Luis) was super experienced, friendly and took care of us. Hooked into a large mahi mahi and they helped me guide in the 50lb fish with ease (but I was sweating). We had a few other hookups (including a marlin) but didn’t get them in If I’m ever in the area again, I’m booking Luis and his mates!

The captain picked me up at my hotel on the beach which is a plus if you don’t have a car. The fish weren’t biting on any boats the day we went out but he tried everything. I can’t blame him. I would book again

Super nice Captain and Crew and great boat. We booked the 3/4 day to target tuna and mahi and struck out on those. You never know if you're going to catch, but 4+ hours of trolling in the hot sun without any action took it's toll on us, so we switched to bottom fishing for grouper / snapper and caught a few. Would have been a "5" if we hooked a tuna or mahi for sure.

Today was a beautiful rainy day even though we did not catch any big fish. We caught 8 Bonitos (small Tuna), saw several turtles, dolphins, Manta Ray and even saw a water spout. The boat was clean, with good gear and the crew was great!

It took awhile to find the fish but we really enjoyed the boat, the scenery, and the hospitality. Once we found the fish it got even better. Some Bonita and then a monster sail fish! Luis was great helping us get them on and in. Refreshments throughout.

Me son caught his first Marlin and the crew celebrated non stop!!! Beat the water to a froth hunting for the "Big" fish. Jose and crew also brought us onto multiple strikes, in addition to a 74" striped Marlin Caught a 50 lb Tuna, and two smaller Sailfish. We were turned onto The restaurant "The Beach House" whose ambiance and fish preparation was second to none.... And very inexpensive. EPIC DAY all the way around!!!

If you are traveling to Playa Flamingo or anywhere near the Tamarindo area, El Gato III, Luis and his wife are who you want setting lines in the water. We drove in from Playa Grande, took off promptly at 7am and returned just after 12 pm. Luis’ knowledge helped our crew pull in 3 dorado and a big sailfish. They are extremely friendly and fun to fish with and we would absolutely recommend his charter.

We were super excited to get out on the water and hoped Salty Adventures was the right choice. Throughout the 3/4 day trip, my wife and I enjoyed every second of our time on the water. We caught two sailfish, one mahi mahi and one bonito. We saw thousands of dolphins and at least a dozen sea turtles. The crew was fun to be with and made you feel like friends from the start. We hope to make it back again.

We have Been with Captain Luis this week for an 8 hours Fish day. It was a good day and we have catched some mahi mahi. The Captain his a really nice Fisher and he has made everything in order to catch fish. But this is not the sport Fishing that I love , it was only trolling. The Captain and his Wife are really nice, the food and beverages were really good but unfortunately it was hard to communicate with them.
