Febrero

Peak tourist season continues in February, San Juan's dryest month. The great Tarpon bite continues, while you'll find plenty of Mahi Mahi and Yellowfin Tuna, amnong many more offshore.

Marzo

Temperatures rise slightly, averaging from 72 to 82 degrees. Offshore, Tuna and Mahi Mahi are biting well around the FADs, while King Mackerel starts to invade the bay. Meanwhile, the Silver King is still on top form.

Abril

The peak tourist season starts to come to an end, although the weather is still very dry and pleasant. Temperatures remain about the same as they were in March, and the White Marlin bite picks up.

Mayo

The slower tourist season means that smart anglers can find some good deals in local hotels. The Marlin bite is getting better and better, while King Mackerel, Tarpon, and Snook are all biting in the bay.

Junio

June in San Juan is hot, but there's plenty going on in town and on the seas to make it worth it. Marlin numbers are picking up: this is the best time to target White Marlin, while Blues are getting increasingly good.

Julio

In a fortuitous time for blue water anglers, as peak Marlin fishing season coincides with the low tourist season in San Juan. Focus on catching a Billfish slam without having to spend more than the odds on a hotel.

August is the hottest month of the year in San Juan. The weather is humid, but sea breezes can make you forget about that – especially if you have a Blue Marlin on the end of your line. Multiple hookups are the norm!

September in San Juan means one thing – the International Billfish Tournament of Club Nautico de San Juan. One of the top Billfish tournaments in the world, it really is not something you want to miss.

Octubre

As the waters cool, the fishing scene changes up. Blue Marlin bites become less frequent, while Sailfish and Wahoo start to become the main focus. Smaller Tarpon are schooling in and around the bay.

Noviembre

November is San Juan's rainiest month, but don't let that put you off. This city is famous for its year-round fishery, after all. With Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, and Wahoo on the cards – it's certainly worth a visit.

We fished today with Cody Johnson and had a fantastic time. Tarpon fishing isn’t easy, but Cody did a grade A job setting us up for success and putting us in front of several massive Tarpon. Couldn’t recommend it more, these fish are no joke and don’t disappoint, they fight hard and put on show. First time Inshore fishing, wasn't sure what to expect but it was great. Relaxing and calm waters. Wish we would have allowed ourselves more time to travel the San Juan traffic to get to the marina (took almost 2 times longer than google maps predicted due to traffic). Make sure you eat something before the trip. Be prepared with sunscreen and make sure you bring sunglasses and a hat.

Bayside Fishing Charters

No restroom on board so female passengers should plan ahead for a 4 hour trip. Some bugs at night (mosquitoes) but crew provided bug spray and they only last about 20 mins at dusk. Perfect trip in inland waters with light to calm wave activity (no motion sickness.). Bring a snack and enjoy!!

I booked a trip with captain Luis at Grillo fishing charters with my good friend while on vacation. Capt. Luis was in contact with me from the start. He even called me to change my reservation because large waves and wind prevented a safe offshore trip so we switched to inshore fishing where we targeted tarpon, snook, jacks and barracuda. Capt. Luis was a great guy to talk with and worked for many years in fishing. I highly recommend booking this trip you won’t be disappointed.

Booked a fishing charter and thats exactly what we did...we fished. Oh and we caught fish too. Capt. had us on fish all day but they were very finicky on what they wanted. Missed several due to being overanxious and had several spit the hooks after some great aerial shows. Boated one fish but again we came to fish and catching was a bonus.

I had a great 4-hour trip with Captain Luis and Captain Fernando. Not only was I lucky enough to catch an 80-pound tarpon within the first 10 minutes of our trip, but I hooked up with 2 other fish soon afterward. Cpt. Luis does his research before the trip and is honest about your fishing expectations. All-in-all I had a great time fishing and exchanging laughs with Captain Luis and Fernando. What a night we had with Captain Luis! Family of 5 (kids ages 9, 12, 16) had the best time fishing with Luis. He was fun to talk to, informative and SO helpful when we reeled in our 3 tarpon! From 30 lbs. to over 100! Even Mom was coached through catching a 80 pounder! Super fun and amazing in spite of rain, darkness and some bug bites. Once in a lifetime experience.
