What’s more, it’s home to some serious angling action. Hop aboard an Oceanside fishing charter and you’ll have the chance to go after some of the state’s most sought-after game fish!

Whether you’re fishing inshore or heading far into the ocean, Oceanside delivers a variety of Pacific-dwelling fish. It’s home to plenty of kelp beds and is located along Southern California’s artificial reef system. This makes it a hotspot for Calico and Sand Bass, Rockfish, California Halibut, and White Seabass year-round. Head just a little further out, and you’ll also face off with the state’s most famous game fish – Yellowtail Amberjack.

If you’re in Oceanside during the summertime, however, you won’t want to miss out on the opportunity to go after Tuna. Skipjack, Albacore, Yellowfin, Bigeye, and mighty Bluefin Tuna all call these waters home. More interested in freshwater fishing? There are plenty of lakes scattered throughout the area that host Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, Bluegill, and Crappie.

For an inshore or freshwater fishing adventure, a half day trip will see you heading home with a full cooler and sore arms. Winter weather continues, but don’t let that keep you away! Fish the inshore waters for Halibut, Seabass, and other Groundfish or head to the lakes for Largemouth Bass and more.

Abril

April marks the opening of Oceanside’s prime fishing season. Rockfish are open to harvest and Yellowtail and Barracuda are showing up closer to shore. It’s a great time to head farther out as soon as you can count on the weather.

Mayo

By this time of year, everyone is getting hyped over the Tuna fishing offshore. Charter a boat for the day (or two!) and head to the islands offshore for some action-packed deep sea fishing.

Junio

Trips to the fishing grounds as far as 100 miles offshore are the norm by mid-summer. Bring home bragging rights to Yellowfin and Bluefin Tuna, or take advantage of the bottom fishing closer to home.

Would like to have Capt. Jim but Capt Steve was really good. Great granddaughter's add a great time, one caught both of the largest two at 8 years old, also grand kids caught a few. My son and I did not catch but only a few. Capt Steve put us on the fish, again thanks Capt Steve for filling in for Capt Jim Sharp on the Blue Horizon. Would book again.

Steve and Brent were great worked hard to get us to spots were we could catch fish and it wasn’t easy but they did their best and even kept us going longer to make the most of what was available that day. Ask about what is in season and what the recent weather will leave available. Things change all the time. We booked this for a holiday months in advance.

We only caught some small fish, but it’s kind of the wrong time of year so not unusual. Captain Chuck was awesome, I told him the whale and dolphin watching tour we were supposed to go on the day before was cancelled and how disappointed I was. He did his best to find dolphins for us to see, again wrong time of year for whales, but we couldn’t find any. I really appreciate him trying! First Mate Allen was great too. Both super nice guys and would recommend a trip with them anytime!!

The crew was very friendly and knew a lot about fishing. They were focused on helping us catch fish we could eat but our kids got bored as the bites slowed down. The crew caught a couple Mackerel for us to use shark fishing, they were everywhere and fun to catch. I felt like the crew could have let our kids catch tons of Mackeral and made it more fun for them. Also, there was a fridge on board but the water offered was on the counter and room temperature. Overall it was a fun trip though.

This was the first time on the Blue Horizon and could not have been happier. The captain and crew were great helping the newbies, and the veterans. They worked hard finding fish and helping everyone get their fish in. Breakfast and Lunch were great with quite a few option. We had 12 people on the boat and had plenty of room. Going to look into doing the over night next year. Thank you again for the great time and can't wait for next year..

Our group had a great time on the water with a Captain Chuck. Captain and deck hand were extremely helpful in assisting us fishing. Our group all caught many fish. The boat was very stable in the water which was great. Couldn’t have asked for a better time! I recommend them!

Great experience with Captain Chuck and Andre. He communicated perfectly.....was super nice....and put us right on the spots where the fish were biting! We caught 29 "Reds" and Callico Bass.....and even got into 1 Shark! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a real pro to take them out.

Had a great day on the water! Not a good day for catching big fish but saw dolphins, sea lions, and lots of sunfish! Overall, it was a great experience and Chuck and Allen were great! We will get that shark next time!

My friend and I took our kids for 12 hour offshore. We asked to try and catch tuna and captain tried his best but no luck so we stopped to catch rockfish and caught a bunch of them. One of them was about 6 pounder. We left early at 04:30 to get 40-50 miles out to try and catch tuna and came back around 20:30 so it was a long day but we all enjoyed it. Probably for tuna will do overnighter next time.

While we didn't catch any big fish, we got a few small ones. The crew cannot control the fish, and it's called fishing not catching for a reason. The captain and crew were very friendly and helpful, and the food on the boat was delicious! I would definitely recommend them, and we'll be using them again in the future.
