Fishing in Shalimar

Measuring only 0.3 square miles, the town of Shalimar may be small, but the fishing opportunities it provides are mighty. Located at the northeastern edge of Choctawhatchee Bay, this tiny town is home to a bridge, which spans the Garnier Bayou. Because of that, Shalimar Bridge fishing is a popular pastime for locals and visitors alike!

The waters around the bridge are made up of a network of seriously shallow flats and grassy beds, and provide the perfect home for huge Redfish and Speckled Trout throughout the year. Come summer, and many other seasonal fish make their way to the bridge, with Flounder, Jacks, and many more coming to the fore.

If you want to fish under the cover of darkness, head out in the evening or early morning to explore the docks between Garnier Bayou and Shalimar Bridge. Trips can last anywhere from a couple of hours to a full day, giving you the full Shalimar Bridge fishing experience.

If you can swing a longer trip (even a 5hr vs a 4hr) it will be worth it! The extra time allows you to get further out especially if the waters are a little rough. But, for a first time experience, the 4hr trio is a great one to experience but it will definitely leave you wanting more. Time goes quickly!

Graham was a great captain. He got us on the fish in a hurry and kept all my boys’ & wife’s hooks baited, as well showed great patience with assisting them with their fish. We caught over 100 fish including 2 nice bull sharks, and then shared their special recipe that we used on our fresh snapper tacos!

Had the opportunity to go out with Captain John and his First Mate Ty today for a short catch and release trip. Boat is top notch along with the tackle and gear! Captain was friendly, we didn't land many keepers, but we did get to hook plenty of fish and enjoyed doing it. The small toilet onboard was clutch for our small children who would've needed to get back to a bathroom multiple times. Overall great trip!

Capt. Shaun said he knew the spots, and he wasn't lying! Four of us caught a total of 18 fish. My 9 yo son caught a 26" inch redfish, and his smile was worth every penny! We did the 3 hour, hour offshore trip, recommended for families. It was great, we're planning on booking Got 2 Go when we come back next year.

So Graham and I went to the same high school, he immediately put us on fish! Caught tons for my 12 year old son and our friends, we had great conversation caught tons of fish even wrestled a shark! We saved a jet-skier and got pulled over by Florida Fish and Game who complimented our catch as, “the best I’ve seen today”. We concluded by catching some Spanish Mackerel while trolling and Graham filleted them all for us! Ended with a fish fry at the condominium to concluded the perfect day!

Captain Robert and Brooke were wonderful to fish with! This was a first time deep sea trip for 3 of the 4 of us and we came back with a great haul for being so early in the season. They kept us pulling up fish left and right and quickly baiting the line to toss it back in. I would highly recommend Captain Robert and Brooke for a great time and a fun experience. We loved it!

Captain Robert and Brooke were outstanding. They contacted us a week before the trip letting us know that the weather didn’t look good. We stayed in contact and pushed our trip to a beautiful day. Within seconds of dropping our lines, we were pulling up 2 fish for each cast. Ended up with 30 red snapper. Just a great day overall. This was our boys first time fishing at the beach so we did a short kids trip and it was a BLAST! Not a whole lot of fish biting when we went, but definitely enough to keep the kids entertained. Even caught a sting ray! Captain Shaun was amazing with the kids and super helpful. Would highly recommend!
