Captain Kaleb Charters, Captain J Hook Fishing Charters, and Top Predator Adventures all received great reviews from families who booked fishing trips in Mount Pleasant.

The most popular fish species you can target are Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, and Black Drum. Top fishing techniques include equipo ligero, spinning, and pesca de fondo. Inshore fishing, nearshore fishing, and flats fishing are commonly offered by local guides.

Mount Pleasant fishing charters combine amazing waters with a warm Lowcountry welcome to give you the trip of a lifetime. This suburb of Charleston has a large fleet of experienced charters that makes the most of every spot and species around.

Most charters in Mount Pleasant stay inshore. These shorter trips are perfect for families and fun for serious anglers, too. Explore sheltered marshes, targeting a range of fish with live bait, lures, or even flies. Red Drum, Seatrout, and Flounder are available year-round. In the summer, Tarpon show up for even more action.

It’s not all about the shallows. Nearshore charters let you drop baits for reef fish like Black Seabass and Red Snapper. They’re best in winter, but are available year-round. In the summer, you can also troll for King Mackerel. Nearshore trips last 6–8 hours. They’re great for beginners, older kids, and anyone who likes tasty fish.

Mount Pleasant also has access to serious bluewater fishing. Deep sea charters take you out as far as the Gulf Stream to troll for big game predators. Wahoo are the spring speciality. By summer, Tuna, Sailfish, and even Marlin join the fun. The best waters are 60-plus miles away, so these charters are often 12 hours long.

Most fishing trips in Mount Pleasant leave from the public pier at Shem Creek Park. You can also catch a charter from nearby Charleston or Folly Beach. To make things easier for you, many captains can start from several locations in the area. Just ask!

Reglas & Regulaciones

Fishing licenses are included on all saltwater charters in Mount Pleasant. Anglers aged 16 and up need one to target freshwater fish, though. Most fish species are open for harvest year-round, except Striped Bass, which are closed from June 1 to September 30.

Enero

Start off your new year the right way and head to Mount Pleasant’s inshore waters for some seriously huge Red Drum. Even in winter, temperatures stay mild here, so there’s always something biting!

Febrero

Inshore fishing remains fruitful, with Bull Redfish biting. Around the reefs, Snapper, Seabass, Triggerfish, and make for a real feast. You can even hook Amberjack if you're after a fight.

Marzo

Spring has arrived, and as inshore waters get hotter, so does the Redfish bite! The jetties are particularly plentiful, with Sheepshead making an appearance, too. In shallower waters, you’ll find Speckled Seatrout.

Abril

Hardcore anglers should prepare for battle – Mahi Mahi and Wahoo have arrived offshore! On land, head to the Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival, which pays tribute to Mount Pleasant’s fishing industry.

Mayo

This is the month to visit if you’re a big game enthusiast, with Mahi Mahi, Tuna, and Wahoo all providing plenty of fighting spirit offshore. Inshore, come face-to-gills with various Shark species around the jetties.

Junio

Inshore, the “Silver King” makes his first appearance. Offshore, Sailfish and other Billfish begin to bite hard – seasoned anglers can even take part in Mount Pleasant’s annual Carolina Billfish Classic tournament!

Julio
As the weather hits maximum heat, offshore sportfishing gets better and better. The Wahoo and Mahi Mahi may be smaller than they were early in the summer, but they're joined by the best of the Billfish.
Agosto

August is a great time for Tarpon fishing. Head to the shallow bays and flats to battle your very own “Silver King.” Shark species lurk around the jetties, and offshore, there’s plenty of Tuna to be found.

Septiembre

The summer shows no sign of stopping as September rolls around. Billfish and Tuna are still available offshore, while Trout and Flounder dominate the shallows. In short, there are fish everywhere!

Octubre

Shem Creek is bustling with some inshore superstars – Flounder, Snapper, and Speckled Seatrout are all on offer. This the perfect time for a family vacation! Bull Redfish are still hanging around the jetties, too.

Noviembre

The inshore bite remains strong, and Bull Redfish are everywhere! Spotted Seatrout and Flounder inhabit creeks and shallow waters. With fewer boats on the water, visit now if you want the fishing grounds to yourself.

Diciembre

Don’t let the year end without experiencing Mount Pleasant’s incredible winter-time fishing! Bull Redfish can be found lurking around the jetties and in shallower waters. Head offshore for Grouper and Snapper species.

The morning trip was great, it was perfect weather early in the day. Wear good water shoes because our feet got wet but you want to make sure you have secure footwear while reeling in the fish.

We fished from 2pm to 7pm. We had luck with black drum and red fish under the docks with shrimp fishing on the floor...we caught the largest spotted trout with shrimp on floating corks near the shorelines between 6pm and 7pm when the wind was calm.

Capitan Kaleb was punctual, accommodating and very pleasant to share a fishing trip with. We had a great day on the water, Capitan Kaleb was knowledgeable and varied his techniques to provide several different experiences throughout the morning. The catch for the day included taking home an inshore slam for the table: a few slot sized reds, a big trout and a nice flounder to top it off! I will most likely book Capitan Kaleb in the future and would recommend anyone to do the same.

Great day and experience. Captain Kaleb immediately put us on the fish, and we were regularly getting bites during our four hour trip. We landed some 40+ inch Redrums and some good black drum too. This is a perfect trip for those who are inexperienced at fishing and those who are capable of holding their own as he is able to cater to each individual well. Will definitely rebook in the future.

We were supposed to go to the Jetties and the harbor but the weather and wind was not ideal for fishing in those spots. We were concerned we would be able to catch anything. Captain Shane took us to a different location where we caught large Reds and sharks. We are so grateful he was able to make a change in our itinerary so we could still have a successful day of fishing! We had a lot of fun and will plan to do another charter with Captain Shane in the future!
