In April, you'll see a lot of action in the water from Spanish Mackerel, Black Drum, Redfish, Flounder, Sheepshead, and Speckled Trout.

Mayo

Tarpon, Redfish, Blacktip Shark, Spanish Mackerel, and more continue to show anglers an exciting fight! Spend the afternoon at the Matagorda County Museum and see history come alive.

On the first Saturday of the month, everyone can fish recreationally without a license. Compete in the Texas Trio Classic Fishing Tournament for Redfish, Flounder, and Trout.

Visit the Lighted Christmas Boat Parade and Gumbo Cook-off at Matagorda Harbor for lots of food and drinks. Flounder and Redfish continue being epic, and Tarpon is still very good.

On land, head to the Christmas Market in the center of town. On the water, go after Sheepshead, Redfish, and Speckled Trout. There’s fun for everyone!

I would recommend quality footwear for the boat, we chose to wear Keen Newport H2 Sandals as they were comfortable and gripped very well on the deck. Breathable thin long sleeve shirts worked out nicely and of course lots of waterproof sunscreen.

My son, father-in-law, and I had a great time fishing with Captain Jordan. We caught several redfish, trout, and black drum (and one flounder). Jordan was great at finding good fishing spots in the East Bay. He knew the fishing sizes and limits that we could keep. Even though the trip went a little longer than expected, Captain Jordan took the time to fillet all fish caught. We recommend Captain Jordan for your fishing trip experience.

Other than a cool front blowing through, we actually caught fish. No keepers but we did catch fish. I set this up as a birthday present for my daughter’s 16th birthday. We ended up going in early at my request because of the cold temps. Will definitely be back when the temps are not in the low 50’s with wind blowing at 20 MPH.

Booked less than 24 hours beforehand (not usually ideal), but he agreed and took my brother and I out on a cold and windy day. Weather wasn’t great, but he got us on a bunch of reds, a few black drum, and a few sheepshead. Highly recommend Captain Joe.

Captain Chad gave us an incredible day on the water. We went to several spots and the bites were heavy. We had an absolute blast on the water. With in a few hours we’d caught a variety of fish and had our 2 man limit of redfish. He’s very knowledgeable and knows some cool history about Matagorda. We fished with Captain Chad on 10/7/23, it was an absolute blast. Captain Chad had our lines tight all day and knew exactly where the fish would be. Between 4 guys, we landed countless fish and had enough meat to bring home to feed us for week. Highly recommend!!
