The best way to experience fishing in Apalachicola Bay is to book a private charter with a licensed fishing guide. See the full list of charters available for online booking here: List of fishing charters in Apalachicola Bay.

The most popular fish species you can target are Redfish, Flounder, and King Mackerel (Kingfish). Top fishing techniques include equipo ligero, equipo pesado, and pesca de fondo. Inshore fishing, nearshore fishing, and reef fishing are commonly offered by local guides.

The temperatures start rising, and so the fishing gets really hot. Cast a line in the rich waters of the bay and you’ll find that Redfish and Flounder are biting like crazy! Check availability for local fishing charters in Apalachicola Bay.

This stunning estuary on the Florida Gulf Coast is one of the richest, fish-filled bodies of water in the area. An Apalachicola Bay fishing trip will have you basking in the sun, sharing your day with its numerous inhabitants. Plants, birds, mammals, reptiles – the wildlife that inhabits these waters is astonishing! If you decide to visit, you’ll get to enjoy natural views rarely seen anywhere else.

Thanks to its convenient location, Apalachicola Bay can offer some of the best inshore angling in Florida, with a wide variety of fish species making it their permanent home. Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Flounder are the most sought after, while you’ll also come face-to-gills with the likes of Sheepshead, Black Drum, and Jack Crevalle.

The trip you decide to go on will depend mostly on your wishes and ambitions. A half day trip is one of the best ways to introduce yourself to the fishing on offer here, as well as spend some family time relaxing on the water. If your goal is to fill the bags, consider booking a full day trip to cover more ground and maximize your chances of reeling in some big specimens.

The eponymous city of Apalachicola is where you’ll find the largest selection of fishing charters on the bay. However, St George Island, Eastpoint, and Indian Peninsula are also great places to visit for a charter fishing adventure.

Reglas & Regulaciones

If you’re heading out on a fishing charter, you’ll be happy to know you won’t need to get your own fishing license, as it will be covered by the captain. Some of the fish species here have specific regulations, so the best way to ensure you’re fishing within the law is to head out with a reputable captain.

Book at least an 8 hour trip and understand that Captains are not Jesus, they can't just speak to the fish and make them jump in the boat! It is called "Fishing" not "Catching" for a reason!

Due to unstable spring weather in this area ie: high winds, stained bay waters I highly recommend choosing an off shore charter ( greater than 9 miles out) for clear blue off shore waters to fish in. From June until the end of regulation season Snapper and Grouper fishing can't be beat!

Our family had a fun time experiencing St Joseph Bay with Captain Man. We caught trout, flounder, and even a blue fish. I was the only one in our party that had never been fishing and Captain Man was so patient with teaching me:). He was determined to find us a place where the fish were biting! We also saw two sharks, stingrays and several turtles! Captain Man really knows his way around the Bay!

We've used Captain Man in the past. On both trips the weather was good but the winds were howling. He found areas that allowed us to fish We limited out on the trout. Caught redfish and flounder. The photos show what we were allowed to keep. Threw a bunch back because Florida said we couldn't keep them. Throughout the day, other guides were calling him to find fish!
