The marina in Wanchese has a large selection for fishing guides. The marina has an excellent restaurant that is actually quite reasonable in price for the quality of food served. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the local community and was very instructive in the techniques used to fish artificial baits.

Riptide Charters

The best time to fish Manteo is April May and June. You might need to dodge high winds and hurricanes after July through November. Good news though, Manteo has inshore opportunities in the sound for anglers who love to bring home tasty catches. Speckled Trout and Red Drum are GREAT eating fish. So are sheepshead and Striped Bass.

Captain Jeremy was awesome. Super trip even though weather conditions prevailed. They tried their best to get the bite going the entire trip. Even with no fish in the cooler at the end of the day I highly recommend this boat and Captain for your next trip. Stand up guy with a very nice boat!

10/10 trip. The boat itself was amazing and Buddy and Watson were great. Did everything they could to get us on some fish and when we were on them they did everything they could to stay on top of them. Highly recommend anyone booking a trip with these guys. Won't be disappointed.

The captain will do everything he can to make sure you have a great day. He had some electrical issues with some upgrades he made to the boat and did not feel safe taking us on an offshore trip. He was very apologetic about the situation and he lined us up to go out on another boat that was not booked for that day, he even came back to the dock and greeted us after the trip to see how our trip went.

Booked a day trip with riptide charters while visiting OBX. The water was still a little on the cool side but Capt Randy gave us a 110%. He was there early with a clean boat ready to roll. He is very knowledgeable of the area and what to look for. I would highly recommend if you are considering a inshore trip. Looking forward to fishing with him again once the water warms up.

Jonathon is born and raised on the OBX. I don't recall him being unable to answer any of our questions - about fishing, OBX history and living life on the islands. He fishes with a good gameplan. Hard to have a bad day when you're fishing such a beautiful location... But Jonathon can take it to a whole other level. Book him and have a day!

Capt. Jonathan put us on the fish. The weather report was wrong. The wind was supposed to be about 5 knots, but it was actually about 15 knots. Conditions grew worse as the trip continued. I have used JW Charters before, I highly recommend them.

The day started slow, but Cpt Buddy did not give up on the search to find us fish. I ended the day with a magnificent Bluefin and a memory that I will treasurer for ever. Watson is an outstanding deckhand and coached me all the way. The boat and gear are top notch. We will definitely be returning to fish with the Cpt BC!
