This makes Mackerel fishing a great choice for families looking for an adventure that their little ones can enjoy – you’ll spend less time traveling, and more time casting off!
For more experienced fishermen, the nearshore reefs and wrecks are beckoning. You’ll find bigger variations of Kingfish here, which means a harder fight! Charter captains will generally have you trolling for your catch, and you’ll travel around 20–30 miles from shore to reach the most productive fishing grounds. Opt for a full day trip to make the most of these waters, and hit your limit of Kingfish.
How to Prepare

This was our first time fishing in Galveston. We caught the biggest fish I've ever caught. I would highly recommend it. You'll have a great time and priceless memories. My only regret this trip is that we didn't catch anything we could keep and eat, but I'll make a meal of those pictures and bragging rights for atleast a year.?

I would reccomend to first timer fishers to take a fishing guide trip or go to a fishing pier and ask plenty of questions! Its the ocean, much different than fresh water. Its good to be informed!
