Background
I'm Capt. Mike, a native Floridian born and raised in Key Largo. My father was a commercial fisherman, and so was I for 30 years. When I wasn't in school or pulling traps as a kid, I was spending all my time on my 13' Jon Boat, catching Tarpon, Snook, and Mangrove Snapper. Now I own a 2200 Tournament Edition Pathfinder, and I want to share my lifetime of knowledge and skills with people who are as passionate about fishing as I am. My favorite thing about fishing is the excitement, especially when I’m battling Cobia.
Techniques
My favorite thing is nearshore fishing in the waters of Port Canaveral. I troll for King Mackerel, Tarpon, and gnarly Barracuda. Tripletail, Cobia, and Flounder can be found around our channel markers and other floating objects many times of the year, and I usually use spinning gear for catching them. I also target Snook, Redfish, giant Black Drum, Bluefish, Jacks, Stingrays, and Sharks. Depending on the season, we can catch Sailfish and Mahi Mahi using spinning equipment and live or dead bait. There's also a fly fishing option, but only for more experienced anglers.
