When we booked Anna banana we had reviewed multiple fishing charters .... thankfully from the other reviews we found out it was a family owned company - owned by locals - with a TON of experience . JOJO - who is Joel’s son - couldn’t have been a better captain / by the end we felt like he was our friend !! He treated my wife so nicely and we caught a ton of fish - including a shark !!! If I could do it again I would 100% book with this company you can’t beat experience and friendliness from humble people - it really makes the trip that much better . We can’t wait to go again and request JOJO bc we truly felt we made a great friend who really cared about getting us on FISH !!!

My dad, myself, and my 3 boys had a great time with Captain Joel and 1st mate Todd. Capt Joel put us on the bite all morning and 1st mate Todd worked hard keeping us baited up and fishing. We caught plenty of keepers to take home for dinner. Great experience, Highly recommend!

Originally I wanted to book a 4 hour afternoon trip on a Sunday for 3 of us.  That trip was booked but Captain Joel offered to take us out from 4-8pm (Generously, he upgraded us to the “big boat”).  We went out to a wreck looking for some big fish and apparently Captain Joel knows the good spots!  We caught a couple of very large Crevelle Jack, King Mackerel and an assortment of others. First Mate Chris was great-making sure we always had bait on our hooks.  He was patient teaching us Midwesterners how bring in some fighters.
I would book this trip again.

My daughter and I had a blast fishing with Captain Joel and first mate Moose! He knew exactly where to take us to catch fish and he was a real pleasure to talk to. The first mate was quick to help us get our lines back in the water after every catch. We really appreciated the Gatorade they had on board for us (hot hot day!)! When we’re back down this way again we hope to go out with Ana Banana!

Have fished with Ana Banana in previous years. They moved their base of operation to near the vaca cut. Had to climb over 2 other boats to board the one we were going to use. I am 74, have had 2 hip replacements and have arthritis. Not the easiest experience. Boat was cramped and dirty. I do not want vibrio or fish handlers disease so I was not pleased boat had not been washed down. I wanted to fish the 7 mile bridge as we had done in years past. Captain said we needed shrimp and bait guy had not shown up. We fished the reef with pilchards and cut bait and we did limit on yellowtails and caught a cero. Captain worked hard to put and keep us on fish. I will not fish with AB again because of boarding and cleanliness issues. Probably just fine for a younger person.
