Viva Mexico!
Viva Mexico!
Sept 14, 2018 La Paz
Mexico is about to celebrate our independence, and the festivities will definitely have a bunch of fresh fish to feast on. We had an amazing week which was just the warm-up for the festivities that will take place over the weekend, and we’re definitely ready to have some epic fiesta with fireworks, cold beer, good fish and maybe even a little bit of Tequila. We hosted a group of experienced Anglers from the Bloody Decks Community, and they had a pretty exciting 3-day fishing spree. Needless to say, they had a good time, reeled in some chunky tuna fish in the 50-80 Pound range. They did put up a good fight, but we definitely worked as a team to land the biggest fish we’ve seen so far in September. THE FISH The tuna seemed to upsize dramatically from the past few weeks, and boy did they put up a good fight. Just when the bite seemed to slow down, some juicy squid chunks woke up their appetite and ended up biting the hook, making for an exhilarating fishing experience for our seasoned anglers. Furthermore, other sightings and bites included a few Wahoo and a couple of Marlin. It really does seem like the season will keep on delivering food to our tables, and we’re always glad to vacuum pack and freeze the very best chunks of fish for our friends to take home and enjoy for months to come. This week’s Tuna Team stroke hard and we’re really looking forward to having them over in our upcoming Mag Bay season which is already showing promising missions, starting October. SPEARFISHING Spearos have come from many regions of the world to explore our most prolific reef and bluewater spots. This time we hosted a pretty rad couple from Hawaii who were Baja first timers but managed to snag a couple of Mahis to cook their own “Sea to Table” dinner for two. Some of their sightings included schools of Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi and the common reef fish we target like groupers and snappers that make for the tastiest grill feasts. SURPRISES COMING UP We can’t really spill the beans just yet, but we’re working hard on a couple of projects that will greatly improve our operation, and we will be ready to share the news once we’re done with the few upgrades we’re developing both on land and on water. It’s one of the biggest leaps we’re taking in the past few years, but we’re confident in our vision & mission to provide the best Baja adventure service of the region. Until the next report, we hope to sea you soon and VIVA MÉXICO !!
September Delivers!
September Delivers!
Sept 7, 2018 La Paz
As the Summer heat begins to recede, September has so far delivered the fishing trips of a lifetime for many of our recent visitors, who have ventured out to our most prolific spots and landed some decent fish. Some of them went straight to the grill, others got vacuum packed, frozen and shipped home, while as of writing this, we’re letting a couple of wahoos on ice to let the meat rest before becoming a truly delicious sashimi feast. Not only did we see stable and fair weather conditions, we have been testing out a few new additions to our gear locker, including some new rods, reels, lines, lures, belts and many more angler’s toys that separate the men from the boys. All in all, we’re really excited for what’s to come, as we will continue to welcome Anglers and Spearos looking for the catch of their lifetimes. THE FISH Just when it seemed that Tuna sizes were decreasing we landed a few beasts around the 50-70 pound range. We also reeled in a couple of Mahi Mahi that exceeded our expectations, since we had also seen some slightly smaller fish biting the hook. Some other hookups included a couple of Marlin that were caught and released and a few feisty Wahoo’s that managed to break a leader. However, our simultaneous spearfishing charters succeeded in spearing and boating a few which will be savored this weekend. SPEARFISHING Just when we thought the spearfishing action was slowing down here in the vicinity of the Bay of La Paz and were looking at the possibility of doing a quick mission around the Cabo area, we had a couple of successful strike missions to our go-to spots. Furthermore, the crew enjoyed sights of decent sized schools of Tuna, Wahoo and a few billfish making the rounds. This can only mean one thing, which is that the fish are hungry. Since we’re also hungry, we might as well go out, spear some fish and enjoy the company of our friends. FALL SEASON We’re really excited with a couple of new developing projects and we will let you all know what’s up as soon as we’re ready to kickstart full swing fall season. In the meantime, we’re back on track with Sea Lion Snorkeling trips on our Espiritu Santo Adventures while we wait the remaining 3 weeks for the Whaleshark Season, which is just around the bend. Remember that our charters and activities are fully customizable, family friendly and of course based around true adventures. Until the next report, we hope to sea you soon!
Fishing Getting Reel Good!
Fishing Getting Reel Good!
May 6, 2018 La Paz
As the weather begins to warm up, so did some of the best fishing spots around La Paz. Even though the water is still a little cold we’re still seeing YellowTails out and about, and fishing trips are definitely taking over the calendar now that the Whaleshark season is finishing at the end of April. May is just around the corner and we’re already giving our rods, reels and boats the best care possible so they’re in tip-top shape and always ready for the many fishing frenzies that are yet to come. Without any further ado, here are the latest news on our fishing expeditions: First San Evaristo Multi-Day Trip / Pistoleros del Mar Although we were hit with what we hope was the last pulse of north winds and the master harbor shut down the port for a couple of days, our spearfishing branch had a successful trip to San Evaristo area, where plenty of yellowtails were speared and the guys also managed to get some varied fish including good size Pargo and a couple of chunky groupers. After being Vacum packed, frozen and thrown in a cooler ready to be flown home, they will provide many tasty meals for friends and family. Our captains are getting hyped after a couple of successful trips to El Bajo, where sardines have proven to be effective bait to catch YellowFin tuna, skipjack and yellowtail, among others. We definitely missed getting blood on our decks, and we’re definitely eager for what the summer has in store for us and for all the anglers who truly love hooking fish. In the meantime, we’ll continue to troll, cast, jig and chum for fish. We’ll be making plenty of sashimi, ceviche and fish tacos, reaping the rewards of the time spent out at sea. Until next the next report, we hope to sea you soon!
