- Background
- Captains Jay and Ben run the trips for Captain Jay Charter. Capt. Jay grew up fishing the waters of NJ and fell in love with fishing the first time his Grandfather put a rod in his hands. Before moving to the Florida Keys, he was running a charter boat off the New Jersey coast. While doing that, he vacationed in the Keys more than a few times, and eventually, the lure of this paradise beckoned him to move there. What better place for him to pursue his career? He loves the offshore and inshore action and the great fishery that it holds. Capt. Jay enlisted the help of Capt. Ben, who grew up freshwater fishing in NJ. For his 18th birthday, Ben and his dad chartered a boat in Canada to catch Northern Pike. This was Capt. Ben’s first charter, and after seeing how awesome it was to show off the fishery, Capt. Ben set out to earn his captain’s license. He joined the military, where he worked on all types of different vessels, eventually earning his 100-ton captain’s license. Ben’s last stop with the military was in Key West, FL. After falling in love with the fishery there, he didn’t want to leave the Keys. Capt. Ben enjoys every trip out on the water. Whether it’s calm or rough out, there’s always something to catch!
