The fish are warming up a bit and the pre-spawn bite is on!

This is the coldest worst weather time of the year. We have been practically snow/iced in for almost a week but this too will pass so keep reading. This coming week we are looking at highs in the 50’s and low 60’s. Water levels are high in all the tributary rivers and that is what is expected this time of year. With the warming trend and cabin fever setting in its time to ignore bad weather and get out there on the water. The big secret to catching fish is just making the attempt. Remember, this is an adventure sport. Its also important to remember that im going to look out for you the whole time. Ive got a heater, and most of the time eventhough i dont advertise it i bring along something warm to snack on. I expect you to show up bundled up but I do keep spare weather gear that i can loan you if you let me know before the trip. I supply everything you will need for the whole day of fishing except for a Tn fishing license. Fly fishing or slip bobber n fly spin-fishing is by far the best way to catch fish this time of year. The trout will stay at cetain depths in the river and a slow natural drift really does the trick. Winter weather is actually preferred by Trout. I know the weather has been tricky for us humans but if you like to fish I will do everything I can to make your trip the best possible. - Jason

If you are visiting the Pigeon Forge Sevierville or Gatlinburg area for Spring break and want to spend a few hours fishing and enjoying the outside then this is the trip for you. We have been targeting smallmouth bass and the success rate has been high this season!

The flows from the dam have been perfect and the trout are really biting! Book a full day for the most action possible!

Our weather has been nice and mild compared to a lot of the U.S this season. Halloween and Thanksgiving have past and now we are locked into the winter transition. The days are short and the mornings are cold. Mid-day has been the best bite and also avg temps 40-50 has made for some pleasant fishing. Fly fishing with nymphs have been producing the most fish. Streamers and minnow type flys have been catching the largest fish. My non fly fishing clients have been really successful with jerk baits . Rainbow trout have been the ticket this season. Most catches are in the 14-20” protected range. These fish put up a heck of a fight and look great in the photos. Book a trip with me and I will take you right to the nice ones!

The area tailwaters are fishing great for smallmouth bass and trout. Fly fishing with poppers and streamers have been effective all day . For the spin fisherman a small 3” jerk bait or small inline spinner has been effective. We should have opportunities on the weekends for long floats through the end of summer. The weather has been excellent and the bite has been best in the morning and evening with a mid day slow down . Im seeing the best catches on a two person full day trip. We have been using my drift boat to reach the less fished water and have been very successful . Its a great trip and im sure you will enjoy it!
