Booked a day trip with riptide charters while visiting OBX. The water was still a little on the cool side but Capt Randy gave us a 110%. He was there early with a clean boat ready to roll. He is very knowledgeable of the area and what to look for. I would highly recommend if you are considering a inshore trip. Looking forward to fishing with him again once the water warms up.

We had a great morning out fishing with Riptide Charters. Weather was a little questionable leading up to our trip but captain Randy was very on top keeping us updated on the situation and adjusting our trip as needed. It was our kids first trip out saltwater fishing and he was excellent with showing and explaining what to do for the different types of fishing we did as well as helping them get their catches in the boat. For the more experienced he explained what we were doing and let us do our thing. He was very personable as well as knowledgeable. Even with the rough conditions that day Captain Randy managed to get us on some fish and more importantly gave our kids a great experience and got them hooked on saltwater fishing! Let me start off by saying Randy is a great guy and super knowledgeable. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this charter for a family, but in my group we’re really into fishing and set out to OBX with the goal of catching our first reds.

The entire week was tough with the weather giving us heavy winds, but Randy was flexible and let us move the date around. Fishing the week we went was TOUGH, but Randy ran around to different honey holes until we had a cooler full of sheepshead and some great pics of our over-slot drum. I can’t emphasize enough that Randy flat out made it work and got us on an amazing day of catching (and not just fishing). We wanted to catch Drum and that’s exactly what Randy put us on to.

If you’re on the fence, just book with Riptide. Don’t sleep on it just do it.

A great day of fishing.  Easy to find the marina and boat.  Captain Randy was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and tolerant of our lack of fishing skill.  Everyone caught fish.  We hooked our keeper drums early and released the little guys.  We also caught a sting Ray, which everyone thought was cool.  Tried for some spotted trout at the end of the trip, but they were evidently not hungry enough to get in the boat.  Highly recommend fishing with Capt Randy…we’ll be back!  Thanks for a great time!
