- Background
- Ever since I was a young boy I have been fascinated by the pursuit of fish of all kinds. I was fortunate to have a father that has always had the same passion for fishing that I have, and he has passed on a wealth of knowledge that I look forward to passing on to other young anglers. Growing up in the space coast area, I have always had a plethora of opportunities to fish. Whether it be riding my bike to nearby ponds, having my parents drop me off with my skiff in the lagoon, fishing offshore for pelagic fish with my father, or fishing at the Sebastian Inlet with my friends, I would capitalize on any opportunity I had to fish. I have spent much of my childhood learning about the diverse fishery the Indian River Lagoon and Banana River Lagoon have to offer. As my skills and knowledge about the sport grew, I realized that I would love to pass on my knowledge to others, and show them the amazing inshore fishery the Space Coast has to offer.
- Techniques
- When fishing inshore in my area, my favorite way to target the game fish the Space Coast area has to offer is to focus on fishing structures. I like to pitch artificial and live baits to docks, mangroves, and rocks. This has proven to be an affective method for finding quality fish in any water conditions. By this I mean that no matter how murky, or choppy the water may be, you can almost always count on certain structures holding fish. This style of fishing also has a certain level of excitement of the unknown, as you never know if a big snook, redfish, or trout may come out of a particular mangrove or dock.
