- Paul Grimston has been fishing the waters off the West Coast of Vancouver Island for 20 years, 17 of which have been based in Ucluelet aboard Castaway. In 2009 Paul caught a 141 lb Halibut that was the largest on the dock in 4 years. In 2013 one of his customers, aged only 14, also reeled in 140lb plus Halibut. 2018 released a Halibut 150lbs. We regularly catch Tyee Class Chinooks (King Salmon) over 30lbs. Several Chinooks in the 20lb class are normal in the peak season July and August.
- Techniques
- I have a special anchor technique for Giant Halibut fishing, call me for details has produced Halibut over 100lbs. I also troll Halibut up while trolling for Salmon. These awesome systems help us yield more fish in a day for my customers. As the owner, I always ensure your day goes the best it can go. My Goal is too make you happy. Customers come to Castaway as this but leave as FRIENDS. Islander Reels, hooked up with G.Loomis rods only the best for my customers.
