Background
Even as a straight A student through school I could never figure out what I wanted to do for a career. I've had a passion for fishing my entire life and one day while taking some friends fishing I realized that I really enjoy putting people on fish and seeing the excitement it brought to them. I decided to get my Captains license and do a job that I love. Pictures don't show everything or the time it takes to catch some of these big fish. As your Captain/Fishing Guide I will do everything in my power to get you on that big one.
Techniques
I use a few different fishing styles from drifting, trolling, bottom fishing, skipping docks, and fishing mangroves using live baits and artificial lures.

This summer has been brutally hot. Water temps in the lagoon have been in the upper 90's in the middle of the day. If you've decided to sleep in, any fishing in the lagoon past 10 am has been pretty tough. Our focus has mainly been Sebastian Inlet and a few of the Nearshore reefs for our inshore trips. The snook have been on fire lately with a few bull reds in the mix on the outgoing tides. The incoming tides have produced some monster jack crevalle up in the 30 lb and 40 lb range while drift fishing the channel. There have been some monster tarpon cruising the beach as well but getting them to eat has been a whole other process. The Nearshore reefs have produced a considerable amount of lane snapper on most trips. Our customers are limiting out on snapper out there nearly every trip. The main key at these spots to getting bites has been bait selection and it changes days to day. One day they want this the next they want that. Offshore has also been very productive this summer. Our red snapper days went very well, we limited out with our red snapper within 1 hour of showing up to the spot. There's been no shortage of fish being brought home either. Whether it be snapper, kingfish, triggerfish, amberjack, or mahi, we've been catching them all. The last couple weeks there's been a thermocline in the ocean which means the water on the bottom is really cold pushing the fish up higher in the water column. Upon arriving to a spot the screen can be loaded with fish but nothing wants to bite. You just gotta figure out how they want the bait presented to them, then it's drag screaming time. The fall season will be here shortly and that means the mullet run is coming. The months of September and October are some of my personal favorite months to fish inshore. Snook, redfish, and tarpon are on fire this time of year. The airboat is at the shop right now getting finished up and hopefully I'll be taking her on the maiden voyage this week. I'm very excited to add the airboat trips to Whatever Turns U On Fishing Charters.
Hot and Rainy
Hot and Rainy
Jul 1, 2022 Grant-Valkaria
June and July are running the usual summer pattern, hot and rainy. All through June the storms have been pretty consistent. Normally we get the first half of the day is sunny and beautiful then around 2pm the thunder storms come in. Lately we've getting a lot of scattered storms all throughout the day. Even though we get a little wet every now and then it hasn't stopped the catching. We've been back at Sebastian Inlet the last few weeks on inshore trips and the snook bite has been fantastic. The outgoing tide has given us the best luck. The snook have been big, hungry, and plentiful out around the north jetty. Go to baits have been pigs, pins, and threadfin herring. Some of the guys have also had some good luck landing big redfish on live crabs that have been floating out of the inlet as well. There was a good run of mutton snapper for a week or two at the beginning of June along the beach and big tarpon have been schooling up along the beach as well. The closer reefs have been holding numerous lane snapper which we've been able to limit out on fairly easy and some decent sized kingfish. Offshore has been excellent, catching good sized mangrove snapper and lots of triggerfish. Almost every reef has been holding at least a couple decent sized kingfish as well. What's great about offshore bottom fishing is you really never know what you're gonna pull up sometimes. Trolling for mahi has been kind of a bust this summer so far. There's been scattered weeds everywhere making it almost impossible to troll. We've hit the red snapper reefs a few times and there was no disappointment there. Those red snapper spots we have are loaded with big thick red snapper. To bad we're only getting 2 days to harvest red snapper this year (July 8th & 9th) cause man we could fill some coolers with ease. The airboat is almost done so soon adding to Whatever Turns U On Fishing Charters will be bow fishing, bass fishing, airboat rides, and gator hunts on the freshwater.
Windy Spring Break March
Windy Spring Break March

March has been one hell of a month as far as weather goes. We've had a few nice days but most of the time the winds have been kicking up in the 20 plus mph range. This just makes it a little difficult to fish a lot of inshore spots and definitely prevents us from doing any offshore trips. Now don't get me wrong, we've still been catching a lot of fish but it's just been a little more challenging at times. Most of the fishing we've been doing lately has been inside the lagoon just trying to find cover. We're catching a lot of smaller speckled trout with a mixed bag of redfish, jack crevalle, and ladyfish. We're using some artificials but mostly popping corks with live shrimp. The sheepshead fishing around the bridges has been pretty good as well. Sheepshead are some of my personal favorite eating inshore fish and a challenge to catch. Sebastian Inlet is always a go to spot for catching something. If the ocean is to rough outside the jetty we've been drift fishing the channel catching some big bull reds and a whole bunch of jack crevalle. Local Floridians give jack crevalle a bad rap but they are pound for pound one of the hardest fighting fish around and will definitely wear your arms out. To tell you the truth, I've had many of my customers in the last couple years decide to take home some jacks. Everyone has said they are fantastic tasting so who knows maybe us Floridians are just spoiled. The snook bite hasn't been all that great for us lately, we've been in somewhat of a slump on catching any big snook ever since the season started. Hopefully this slump will end soon because I want to start ringing that bell.
Happy New Year 2022

Well..... Here we go starting off a new year, hopefully everyone had a great holiday. The fishing has been ecstatic the last few weeks. We've caught lots of fish and broke some new personal best records to end the year. The inshore bite has been off and on in the lagoon. The bait is plentiful all throughout the river. Lots of finger mullet, pilchards, pig fish and pin fish. The fronts are messing up the bite a bit though. Some days are a little slower than others but that's fishing. We've caught some nice reds, snook, and trout along the mangrove shorelines and the spoil islands using live shrimp on popping corks and chunks of mullet. These are the areas you gotta have patience for. Lots of casting and moving if you're using artificial or just sitting and waiting if we're still fishing. Sebastian Inlet has been spectacular when everything lines up. There has been tons of action on bluefish and Spanish mackerel. A few flounder and pompano too. When the bite is on the big bull redfish are all over you. The snook have been there but like usual picky as all hell. Night has been the best for snook at the inlet the past few weeks. We also had a good tarpon bite right before new years eve right outside the inlet. Surprisingly some of the big Goliaths are still hanging out around the north jetty. You'll see them under the boat on an outgoing tide just waiting for you to hook one of those snook. Unfortunately the Goliaths haven't learned the regulations yet ?. Offshore has had some excellent fishing lately. The waters have been quite warm for this time of year. We've been catching some solid cobia hanging with the sharks and numerous amounts of snapper (mangroves, Lanes, and muttons) on our bottom fishing trips. Not only that there have been kingfish and mahi being caught in 60ft while trolling pink/white and blue/white skirts with ballyhoo.
Merry Christmas Fishing Fanatics

Santa is being very generous with the fishing lately, the fish are biting and the coolers are filling. Some of my customers might be having fish for Christmas dinner instead of turkey this year. We've had some cold fronts come in which has chilled the water down a bit in the lagoon and the ocean but it hasn't stopped the fish from biting. The lagoon is producing decent amounts of slot reds as well as some smaller snook fishing the mangrove shorelines and not to mention numerous amounts of spotted seatrout. Sebastian Inlet has been pretty hot lately, the big reds are hanging around for the holidays and slot to over slot snook are being caught pretty consistently. Flounder season is open now and I've seen some decent size doormats and a bunch of medium size flounder being caught. Spanish macks and bluefish are also stacked up in and around the inlet. Offshore has had a fabulous snapper bite this week. Some of the lane snapper we've caught are the biggest I've ever seen. There are also quite a few other species hanging around like big mangrove snapper, cobia and kingfish. I've talked to some other captains that have been catching mahi out around 150ft while trolling. We usually don't do many offshore trips during the winter due to the rough seas though. There are a few days still open for December but January is wide open for bookings. Give us a call and let's get y'all hooked up. Due note: the rental house is booked up from February 1st to April 30th.
