The water was colder than normal for this time of year so the fish weren't as abundant. I guess they head out of the bay with cold water. However, we still had good action and caught what we were hoping for!

Bring a backpack so you can keep all valuables in the kitchen area. If you do put things in your pockets, make sure that the pockets have zippers so as to not lose anything. If you’re going to use your cell phone, you better have a death grip on it because the boat is moving bobbing and weaving and there’s no getting it back once it falls in. These are standard things on any boat no matter where you’re fishing. Also I would recommend layers of clothing. Unless it’s August, we start off in sweats and a jacket and then a sweatshirt and sweats and then a T-shirt and sweats and then shorts and a T-shirt and then just shorts. I would recommend layers of clothing. It’s always better to take something off then to not have something you feel you need. Bring water bring some food and bring your muscles. This is sportfishing not really for the elderly or the weak. If you’re not into a lot of exercise, just take a water taxi and take a little tour out of the water. This is sportfishing emphasis on the word sport.

For first time anglers, there are several best practices I would recommend: 1) Be very clear when booking on your objectives for the trip and adjust your trip duration accordingly. If seeking Marlin, arrange for at least a 6-hour trip. 2) The Cabo Marina is massive and cab drivers/language barriers can hinder you arriving at the required pier/slip designation in time for your charter departure. 3) Inquire whether the charter will turnkey the process of obtaining the fishing license, or if you will need to secure the license personally. If the latter, add at least 15 minutes of extra time to complete this process; and 4) which relates back to item #1 above, confirm your desire trip objective with the captain when you are arrive at your boat. The tendency of the charters is to fix standard, closer shore destinations for easy limits of Mahi and Tuna--which is fine if those are your target species. If aiming mainly for Marlin, you will need to be clear that you want to fish offshore.

Yes I recommend. I booked a private charter my son and I. A father son experience. Leaving the dock it was an incredible sunrise as you can see in the video. Then when we started driving out, due to storms a few hundered miles south, the swells in the ocean were big, not height but constantly rough. We powered through and went after Marlin. We went through visited a couple spots. About 2 hours in. FISH ON! The battle was on, and as a good dad I deferred to my son to battle the fish. During the 30-40 min battle, the fished jumped out of the water and it was incredible. It was not a Marlin. It was a rare, blue sparkly spotted Sailfish. Wow. I knew these were rare and if you get lucky, you get a Marlin but we hooked a Sailfish. The battle was intense, and when it was jumping out of the water wow! It was out of a dream. This fish was magical and we decided to keep it and make a trophy. It was 90 inches and 101 pounds. I want to say Alfonso (Captain) and Edgar (First Mate) were incredible. A fun group. My son and I had a great time. I recommend booking them for sure! We did have to reschedule one day later due to the weather being bad the day before, they were easy with that. Thank you BlueSea Sportsfishing for providing an experience of a lifetime. We will see you again soon!

wear long sleeves sunglasses hat and bring sunblock and water, I cant say I'm educated enough to say if it was good or bad, but seeing as we caught and say marlin I can't complain. I would say it's great time to see stuff besides the fishing, seeing all the whales was super cool

Many boats to choose from. Recommend Black Marlin. Manuel and Jose have this down to a science. In any event read reviews and hope you can get on a boat with a solid crew who works to catch fish because it’s not easy.

I would not use FishingBooker. I wouldn’t use them because what is advertised is not always what you receive. The “Captains” featured on the listings are only the coordinators or brokers who schedule any random Captain that is available for the day so you have no idea what you will get. Reading the reviews for a particular outfit doesn’t help cause you may not get that Captain/ crew. And who you get determines if you have a hardworking crew who is motivated to get you on fish. Instead of using FishingBooker.com go to the marina at noon and see what boats return with slot of fish then approach those boats and ask them directly with you the next day or later in the same week.

I shop various boats to fish considering their cost and reviews. This was my first time using this boat. They did not disappoint. Bigger ain’t better, this Captain and Crew made our fishing enjoyable.

Stay in contact with your captain before your experience, dress in layers to remove clothing as it warms up rather quickly, take Dramamine before even getting on the boat (if you are affected by seasickness), and just enjoy and have fun!

I caught my first marlin on my first trip to Cabo (2nd 8hr day). I caught Marlin, Dorado, Yellow fin, and Wahoo. World class fishing, I highly recommend it to fellow anglers. Especially if you're looking for a marlin.

Fish on a new moon from September through October. Book in advance. Get double the live bait from the boats and be sure to find out exactly what species are biting what because when it's busy the baitboats will try to offload whatever is not in high demand. Get your license online the night before. Do not wait till the morning of. Leave earlier than you think you need because there's always some point of delay in the early morning. Getting out of the harbor before the other boats is your best bet for a lot of action in the busy season.

Captain Tony’s restaurant is a “you hook em, we cook em” restaurant, right at the marina. Take your fillet to the restaurant, they’ll cook your fish on the spot. We enjoyed fresh fish tacos on the same day.

December is a great time of year to fish in Cabo. Not only do you get to land Marlin, Dorado, Tuna, Wahoo, etc. without going to the deep sea, but you also get to watch whales surface and breach while you’re trolling.

If you want to go fishing on your Cabo vacation, don't sweat the details. We didn't expect to catch a Blue Marlin, but when we did, the team of people around the dock assisted in every way they could. If I have one bit of advice, bring extra cash to tip the helping hands. This includes the person helping get the fish to the place where it will be cleaned and cut up in to fillets ($20). Fish cleaning will be dependent on the number of fish caught, but quite reasonable ($30). Of course tip the crew as suggested by Fishing Booker as well. Enjoy!

I recommend looking at the size of the deck. This particular deck can only accommodate 4 people. My advice, It's the luck of the draw on what captain and crew you are going to get. Last year our experience was great on a different boat. This year we went with a bigger boat (the cabin is what made it bigger not the deck) and the experience was not so great.

Review, review, review! Charters like to nickel and dime you. You pay for charter but that doesn't include food or water. Then when you get to the boat ramp they like to charge you to walk down the ramp to get on the boat. Once on the water they stop to pick up bait and ice which you are expected to pay. Reel Taquila experience was NOT like this but every other charter has hit us up with these hidden fees. We're hoping this company has larger boats to avoid breathing diesel fumes and getting ill.

This boat and crew were awful. We booked two more trips with different captains and boats and caught 3 Marlin and 7 Mahi Mahi. It wasn't the water, it was the La Paloma that was bad luck and poor fishing.

Make sure you are OK seasickness wise, take appropriate meds. Plus highly recommend a large hat to keep sun off. Also of course sunscreen you are at the Tropic of Cancer sun is very strong. Bring plenty of water etc and snacks.

November is a very good month for beginners to get settled into catching Mahi Mahi. It is an excellent fighting fish that are small enough to figure out the basics of angling offshore. And one of the tastiest fish of all... Take your catch to Captain Tony's and have it prepared 3-5 different ways on the menu.

Unless you go to the finger banks, which are about 40 to 50 mile offshore, you are not guaranteed a Marlin. If that is the species, you’re after, prepared to have patience, and the money to go out that far.

If possible, try different boats and Captains. If at all possible, talk with the actual Captain beforehand for accurate and realistic plannng. FishingBooker twice used ineffective middlemen versus communication with the actual Captain (who will make or break your experience).

Wear sun protection and a sun fishing shirt , long sleeve , for cool comfort , not a cotton shirt. Ice is provided so bring your favorite drinks and food. Nothing like an ice cold drink on a hot day. This boat is wide and stable in swells , compared to other boats. Enjoy yourself and have fun !

Make sure you stipulate what fish you want to catch because they have places that they go to for certain Fish and you have a timeline so make sure if you go from Marlon or selfish. You have to go out a long ways and you need to make sure with the captain, how early you need to leave and try to be there way before then

A fish processor came to the boat and took us to their shop, vacuum packed the catch over night and delivered a 50 pound, airport ready box for us the following morning at 7:00 am, so convenient and reasonably priced. If you have a great trip like we did, tip captain and mate generously, they deserve it!

Read all the reviews of the boats listed on the site. We thought that a larger boat might be better equipped to handle the swells (which it did) but upon return, some of the smaller vessels actually caught more fish and marlin which we were hoping for. We understand that marlin are in towards Dec. & Jan. Nevertheless, this is my second time going personally and cannot wait to go back next year! You will not be disappointed. The people are wonderful in Cabo

It's hard for me to call it for you accurately because there is a Category 5 Hurricane a few hundred miles off the coast (I obviously didn't plan on that 4 months ago when I booked this vacation) it's been pushing 10 and 12 ft waves in on the beach and once we got out to the fishing grounds fortunately they were a couple secs apart but 8 ft nonetheless. I'd like to try it again under different circumstances. I catch and land a Black Marlin and a few Chicken Mahi but were only last about 3 hrs on the water cause it was just too rough.

This is an awesome place to go fishing. The water 12 miles out was 600 to 800 feet deep. This allows you a lot more fishing on your trip. At 1 to 2 miles out you are already 250 feet deep. Great place and very friendly people.

Keep our expectations realistic sometimes the fish do not cooperate. Give the captain 1 or 2 species to target and listen to him when he tells you what is biting and what is not. Make sure you hydrate the day before your trip. Sunblock is an essential item to bring, You can purchase box lunches at Captain Tonys at 5:30 am. Is about a 5 min walk from the restaurant to the boat dock. Captain will call someone to clean your fish for you at the end of the trip.
