What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for the first time?

This was my first time ocean fishing so I don't have a good reference point. If you have a flexible schedule you my want to check with the captain to see when/if the fishing is good and schedule accordingly. I was limited with a two day window. A wind kicked up on first day that didn't allow us to get out on the ocean and the second day was supposed to be worse. We fished in the sound and did not have much luck, 2 small sharks.

We booked with Black Dog Fishing Charter in Hilton Head with Captain Jon. I highly recommend this trip to anyone that wants a great day out on the water catching fish. Captain Jon was very knowledgeable on where to go so that we were successful in catching fish. Everything was supplied for us so there was no stress involved. A great experience for a family or individuals! The trip is well worth the money!

We had ad a great time! It was a successful day of catching fish that were in season. Do your research before planning your trip. I knew when I booked that it wasn't the right season for catching sharks or bigger fish. If that is your goal, plan your trip accordingly. The captain and the experience get 5 stars - the fishing in March gets 4 because it is off-season.

While Spring and Fall are probably better seasons for fishing, if you are taking your kids for the first time, and want a learning experience, there is nothing better than a trip off HHI - will always get Shark...

Don't expect anything other than being somewhere other than work, we caught 1 fish in the first 2 1/2 hours, when we moved to the final spot we had a fantastic time, everyone caught multiple sharks of substantial size.

Hire Hilton Head Sport Fishing LLC. These guys will put you on the fish, teach you proper rigging and baiting, and where to find the fish around the area. They are experienced and passionate about fishing.

Do a great deal of homework and be very clear of the trips expectations before leaving the dock. The captain explained to us the fish move and everything changes in April. Fishing can be terrible and we spent a lot of money for nothing.

It’s considered one of the slower months but it was fantastic for us March 23 at on the boat beautiful day great wake up great departure from the dock and a fantastic catch eaten the wonderful black Seabass for dinner tonight fresh fresh as it comes thank you captain and thank you first mate over and out.

This was an excellent trip I will go again and again. Captain buddy treated us really well we had alot of fun.We caught more than I expected. U recommend Captain Buddy

Captain Buddy was great....one of our crew got seasick quite quickly from dropping the anchor to fish...had to return to landing..Captain buddy is a nice guy...o

Expresses great access to the water is also great would recommend probably going early to mid Spring early to mid fall.

Fish in the morning and during October. Apparently fish aren’t biting here in June. Only had 2 bites the whole time. 1 got away the other was a baby shark about 8 to 9” long.

This was a really cool experience, our captain was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly with kids. Extremely reasonably priced, such a cool experience

The fish were a bit slow but we had a lot of fun fishing for sharks. Seth and the captain made it a lot of fun for my young child at 18 year and 22 year old...

Book way in advance if you intend on fishing during your time in Hilton Head. If you wait you will have very limited options.

Bad time of the year to fish!!! Not one nibble! 4 out of 5 on the boat didn't even get a chance to touch a rod and reel! Boat and Captain were fine, just no fish of any kind bitting,

Just relax and enjoy the experience. Great group of captains. Recommend Capt Mike on the Gullah gal.

My on and I ha a great time. It was a very windy day, which reduced our options, but overall, very happy with the expeience.

Good experience. With it raining we didn't get to catch as many fish as expected.
