What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo for the first time?

A morning trip might have more success as it was slow in the afternoon. The owner told us it was a weird day even off shore so maybe it wouldn’t matter. We still caught fish so it was a successful trip.

Go during the season of the fish you want to catch is important. Sometimes water maybe to hot to catch in the hot months.

December and January are a lot better fishing but the island is always amazing and you can always be surprised at the fishing.

Be sure you get your fish at the end of the day. Because we never received one piece of fish from a boat load of fish!!!!

Make sure you dress for the sun! Period no exceptions. Plan for the wind and sea. If expected high seas, then do not eat breakfast not drink any beer early in trip.

We went bottom fishing and it was a great first experience but we saw plenty of sailfish. Would like to give that a go next time.
