What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo for the first time?

Hire a boat because no matter how many fish you catch it's an enjoyable and fun adventure being on the water in Mexico. I also think it's nice to go with a small group so there's plenty of action for everyone and the personal attention is worth it.

If your looking for billfish you have to wait until May, but bottom fishing is great all year long and you take your catch to any restaurant and they will prepare it anyway you would like. PTO is a great place to fish and relax.

check out the Lagoon fishing for Tarpon,bones, huge permit, big jacks, No rough water and awesome wildlife all around you!!! Off shore is close, go for it!!

The absolute best. These guys know there stuff. 3 sailfish in 3 hours. We stopped counting shallow bottom fish after 12.

If you're not a seasoned fisherman, be prepared with Dramamine. The earlier in the day, the better they bite!

Try fishing in june July or August if u want the bigger fish but if looking to just catch fish it's a great time

Nice small town feel. We took our filleted fish to the nearby restaurant and they cooked it for us with a great spread of yummy sides.

Leave some time after fishing for lunch and sight-seeing. Puerto Morelos looks like a nice area for tourists.

WAY too much sargassum (sargaso) the effectively troll. We got luck with the wind, but our trip was sandwiched between days of windy conditions.

Call ahead to ensure your trip is not cancelled. I was told the harbor master closes the harbor when windy. It was windy everyday we were in Mexico at the end of May 2019.

Spend the hole time trolling we spent the last 2 hours bottom fishing we caught a lot of small fish kind of got boring after a while.

Watch the weather, we had a few storms roll in and it made for some rough water. Next time I will wait untill the week before and check the weather first.

Bottom fishing, skip the sport fishing unless they say that have caught some in the last couple days.

The wind and weather made it almost impossible to find a day to go out. The ocean is fierce and if you are not a true boater you have never made it out of the dock.

Don't book in December if you get sea sick, windy. But, warm weather and tons of fun!
