What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Deltaville, Virginia for the first time?

Come for the sea, the sights and open mind. Take it all in, a half day riven the first time would probably be best. Your on peninsula time so all will run different relaxed and slow except when it isn’t. So just enjoy and savor it for what it is with no expectations.

I've grown up on the Piankitank my whole life and fished every part of the surrounding rivers & bay. From spot, croaker, tuna, striped bass, Cobia, catfish, brim (near the Dragon Run) the opportunities are endless.

Yes. The half day trip is a great way to introduce family and friends to the fun of being out on the water and how to catch fish. We had inexperience and experienced fisherman on board from 23 to 78. All had a good time. Some caught fish for the first time on our trip!

Be sure to bring a light waterproof jacket due to it being chilly in the mornings, especially with wind chill, but it will warm up, so be able to take off or put on a layer at your own leisure. A day or two before the trip make sure to confirm which docking bay to meet at to avoid any confusion, also you may have a tough time getting a signal to contact the captain when you arrive.

We had a great time bottom fishing for small fish. I'd definitely check with the Captain ahead of time because they can tell you what is out of season and what is the best type of outing available to make your day enjoyable!

Find bloodworms and lug worms before your trip. I don't recommend staying at the Quantity Inn in Gloucester. Under major construction and the front desk help is not professional or nice.
