What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Port Douglas, Queensland for the first time?

Worth the drive. Less overfished relative to Carins and shorter boat ride to the fish (this makes it good for kids).

Go with the OUT N ABOUT fishing team and you will have smiles for miles off 4 mile... Trust me as i aint a rookie and had one of most memorable days

Take a whole day trip so there is time to head to the outer reefs for a better chance of catching better size fish.

Probably stick to lower tide as we didn’t get much at all but when the next group went out they caught instantly

Would be great for first time anglers as Blake took the time to ensure everyone was catered for and the weather was sensational. We caught some great fish and had a really great day.

Didn’t catch any of legal doze on the day, but had heaps of fun. Would go again and will for sure.

Fishing Booker should not charge so much off the charters, I will enquire with the charter directly next time for cash payments

I've done several charters out of port Douglas and never caught a single keeper do your research find a boat with a good reputation.

Well, there was a American father with 2 teenage daughters that clearly hd no idea. I think that should have been identifed by the support crew they should have given extra attention.

A tough time of year to catch barramundi, but with so many other amazing fish to catch I wouldn't get caught up on solely targeting barra this time of year.

Yes. While we were experienced, the weather was great, the variety of fish amazing, and the actual work of fishing straight-forward.

Don’t be cheap and pay for a full day if time permitted, you will not be disappointed.

The wind can definitely be a factor but with the right crew, you will catch fish.
