Fresh Titusville Fishing Reports

The redfish were schooling all throughout, got on some spotted trout an mangrove snapper action as well!

With the Fall weather taking hold and hints of winter here and there the fishing has remained good with mixed bags of Red's, Snook, Trout, Mangrove Snapper, Jacks, Lady Fish and the occasional Catfish that we just can't seem to get away from.

For the past few weeks with the water temperatures dropping several things have taken place. The water levels have lowered to about normal, the water clarity has improved considerably and.................... The Trout bite has been great. Friday's Charter was over 100 fish in 2 1/2 hours of fishing. Monday's about the same and the weeks before was very similar. Much bigger fish all on artificial and the bite is a couple hours into the morning so no need for getting out at the crack of dawn. What has also been going on is the sight fishing for reds has been excellent with the excellent water clarity but along with that comes the fish getting skiddish. Again, artificial's are the ticket.

Fished the upper Mosquito Lagoon with a charter yesterday, while a bit windy it proved productive. Caught Red Fish, Snook and Trout mostly on live shrimp with the exception of the trout which came on Gulp. Right now the Black Drum are lit up on the Indian River with the Reds getting hot. Still some nice Trout to be had with water temps in the mid 70's.

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of being the captain for a local High School Fishing team. I was able to take the Sunday before and pre-fish one of the lakes on the chain where the tournament was being held. The day started off pretty slow with a 2 hour fog delay which has a tendency to change your plans as it removed 2 hours from your fishing day. Many teams planning on running all the way from Lake Toho to Lake Kissimmee no longer had that as an option so it meant that there were only 4 or 5 lakes left within a reasonable distance to fish. We hit our first spot in lake Toho and picked up a couple of fish but the delay had not helped as there were many fishermen hitting the same area prior to our arrival. So we proceeded to the next spot which was also loaded up and didn't even stop. We locked through to Lake Cypress where I had fished the week before and I had several spots that I was optimistic would provide good action. We hit the first area and within the first couple of casts had a nice 6 lb. fish and another 2.5 lb. fish. we had figured out the pattern necessary and the boys proceeded to catch another kicker and we culled an additional 3 fish before we had to quit to begin our 1 hour trip back to the weigh in. While the boys were happy with what they had caught they had no idea that they would be on the hot seat for the entire weigh in until the final team came up and beat them out by 1 lb. It was a great day for them, first time in the top 10 as they got a 2nd place bag with 16.35 lb.

Started out the day at safe light on the North end of Lake Monroe, during pre-fishing we had located fish in the flooded areas of puzzle lake, this was a 30 mile run first thing in the morning but was well worth the trip. We had non-stop action on top waters for about an hour which put our limit in the boat and we were culling. With the wind picking up in the 25 mph range we worked our way back down the river and managed to cull several more times. We ended the day with 14 lbs. and some great fishing.
