Talk to the captain and be flexible with the timing if you are able. A trip is made with good weather, which is always suspect on the coast. In and outs of fronts really make the day when the wind lays down the waves.

Don't have expectations of variety of fish, but we caught great fighting fish!

Full moon fishing 36 hours out from a major cold front and these guys put us on the fish for hours straight.

If you’re targeting tuna, you’re going to have about a 2 hour ride to the locations, so be prepared for that.

Bring lots of water and sunscreen. Fish are always biting so you'll want to be on the water for quite some time.

We come from the upper Midwest so we had no idea how to approach the Chauvin area in terms of fishing. Using a charter made all the difference.

Sunscreen and patience. Weather can be hot and humid much of the year. Fish are there, just need to keep casting and trying.

Be sure to apply lots of sunscreen, wear a large brimmed hat, and long sleeve fishing shirt to protect from the sun. If you have issues tolerating extreme heat, bring shammies.

if its windy and cold and the lake is dirty dont go. if its just cold and water is clear go get on some speckled trout, its a blast. flownder are running in november and the redfishing is usually always good. its a big lake and alot of water to cover so i would get a map of the area or fish with someone that knows the area well.

We left the dock around 6am stopped at hot spot #1 loaded the boat with specks, then went out to play with some bull reds. Fighting the monsters with light tackle is a blast. We caught 4 and had one pop the line at the boat. Couldn't have been a better trip for us. We wanted a trout to take home and have the drag squeal a few times and that's what we got.

Fishing in Grand Isle is not a slam dunk if you do not know the area. Get a good guide.

Bring clothes you can layer if it gets colder or hotter and bring a big cooler if you plan to take home your catch. Lake Charles was great and everyone was so nice and congenial.
