Trip Summary
We were out for a full day trip targetting blue marlin. With many boats getting marlin strikes on lures our plan was simple ;lure trolling.Mr Peter, the customer, has fished with us for many years and has caught a 750 lbs black marlin on live bait with us.We went through a lot of schools of skipjacks and caught 2 though we were not targetting them.Other boats were getting marlin strikes in the area but the marlins just ignored us on that day. However,at around 2:30 p.m the closest lure to the boat disappeared in a big splash and the fish immediately took to the bottom spooling off around 450 mts of line from the 80 lbs screaming reel. After 40 minutes of a tough fight we could see the tuna swimming sideways showing it's shiny belly. It took us some more time before we could gaff it.The nice 180 lbs yellowfin tuna was pulled onboard and it was already time for us to head back to shore.Off season for a tuna of this size but very much appreciated.Next big tuna migration is expected in March and April.......see you
