Trip Summary
It is now the last month of our peak season here in the Comox Valley. September turns out to be a month you don't want to miss out on in the local waters. The first 2 weeks of September is often when we catch the biggest and highest percentage of large mature Chinooks heading south to their respected rivers. While fishing you also have the chance to catch many of the local feeder Chinooks, Northern Coho, Sockeye, Pink and Chum salmon all in one day! Since our last report in August we had two of the best weeks of fishing followed by four slow days only to have it turn back on three days ago. This is typical for this time of year, we have a week of great weather ahead and the smoke has been gone for weeks! The wildlife has been amazing these past few weeks. Many Humpback whales, Porpoises, Seals, Sealions and many birds all feasting on the huge biomass of bait living in our area.
