Trip Summary

ISLE OF MAN TO COSTA RICA We continued the weeks fishing with Lee, Russell Cowell & Paul from the Isle of Man who are visiting Costa Rica for the first time. Paul would love a Tuna, Russell & Lee really want a Dorado, but the main focus of the week is to give the guys some good variety of our Costa Rica fishing. Day 3 - Offshore The highlight of day 3 was a 75-80lb Sailfish caught on the Spinning rod by Paul which put up a great fight. Conditions looked great in the morning with birds, bait & Dolphins 20 miles Offshore but despite 1 missed Dorado our trolling efforts could not add anything to the Sailfish. We spent the final part of the day at an Offshore Reef, Jigging, Live Baiting & even surface chunking trying to bring fish up off the Reef. We lost what looked like a Wahoo on a Livebait, caught a small rainbow Runner & some Bonitos but despite there being tons of fish on the sounder they were not interested in the jigs. Then we were treated to a simply amazing scene of a Black Marlin feeding on a school of Bonitos on the surface, white Water getting thrown everywhere & I would not want to be a Bonito in that moment! It was pretty cool & not something we see very often. So not a lot of fish caught, but a nice day all the same! Day 4 - Inshore Yesterday we enjoyed a great day Inshore fishing in Costa Rica. Catching Livebait proved be a challenge in the morning but we stuck at it & finally managed to get enough for the day. Just whilst fishing for livebait on Sabikis we caught 8 different mini species, 5 of which we do not see very often, it was strange how many species were down there. Onto the actual fishing, We had lots of bites, lost fish & missed fish but caught some nice fish too. We had Roosters, Cubera Snapper, Big Eyed Jack, Jack all chasing the top water lures but turning away at last moment. GT Ice Creams were the most productive lures of the day. Catch report: 4 Roosterfish 1 Mackerel 2 Needlefish 1 Corvina A few small Barracuda The guys are Inshore fishing aboard Chloe Frijole Fishing Charters today!
