Trip Summary
It was cold ( by Florida standards ). We started our trip a little later than normal to try and let the weather warm up, but it just wasn't going to happen. 20kt winds out of the NNW and a starting temperature near 57 degrees, made for difficult conditions to say the least. A lot of other guides I know where canceling their trips for this morning because they thought that they would have too hard of a time finding fish or staying out of the wind. I was confident though that we could make it work and so we set off.
We spent the morning tucked up along the shoreline of Casey Key which kept most of the wind off of us. Moving jigs slowly in and around structure was the key to our success, and our persistence payed off with a very nice haul of Black Drum and Sheepshead throughout the morning. Clients also caught a few Snook and some low slot sized Redfish to round out the morning.
